We're hoping to book the afternoon tea when we stay at the GF in August. It will be my sister, her sister in law and me. My sister loves tea, but our friend and I do not. We know we can buy something else to drink, which we will, but we were thinking we'd like to try a tea. What type of tea do you reccomend for people who don't like tea? :rotfl2:

Depends on what you like. I love Earl Grey, since it has a stronger taste. I think they have various herb teas (such as peppermint) as well. Enjoy! The tea is really lovely, and all the food is SO good!

DW and I have gone to the GF tea 4 times. The servers have been great and I'm sure will work with you on a tea you may enjoy.

I haven't been to the GF tea (yet, my mom and I are going this November), but I'd say in general to stay away from the black teas and pick something more fruity. Or peppermint with honey is a nice choice.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies everyone! I can't wait. I'm sure I'll be satisfied, even if I don't like the tea! :rotfl: The food sounds incredible.

I've never done afternoon tea at the GF but I would really love to--possibly on my next trip! :goodvibes Anyway, I'm a big tea drinker, but most of the people I know who dislike tea are more okay with fruity or herbal teas than the black teas. :) Have fun!

I am also not a tea drinker, but the Garden View does have one tea that I do love, and that is Chamomile (pronounced camo-meal) tea. This is one you can also get at your local grocer in the tea aisle, usually in a yellow sort-of packaging.

Their description is: "Chamomile Flowers - A tranquil and calming herbal infusion of sweet and fragrant golden chamomile blossoms combined for a mild and sweet taste. Soft and musty aroma combined with a smooth, apple-like finish."

Tastes wonderful with honey instead of sugar for sweetening.

Garden View also has pressed pots of Colombian coffee, but I don't know if your friends would swoon if you ordered this. ;)

Afternoon tea is an experience, not just a class of beverage.

The servers will do whatever they can to accommodate you.

Don't give up on the tea, there's lots of things to check out. My wife was introduced to delicious concoctions from these fine folks at a GF tea...

Thanks again everyone! I think I'll wait and see when I get there, and ask the server to suggest something. I'm thinking one of the fruity ones might work for me. I drank one cup of tea once, in 1993!!! I only drank it because it was to have my tea leaves read. I'm just so excited to be going to the tea and to stay at the GF. I've been dreaming of this resort since I saw it on Full House!

We did this in March (it was myself, both my DDs, and my MIL). Both my MIL and I do drink tea but we each got a different one. I got the Princess tea (very light and with a sugar cube it is very sweet, I loved this tea), unfortunately I forgot the name of the tea that my MIL got but it was the other popular tea that they serve. Hers was a dark tea that she said was very good. We absolutely loved this tea (instead of tea for my DD6 and DD9 they had chocolate milk and apple juice in there own tea pots). Plus the tea sandwiches were so good, then the desserts........heaven. Enjoy!!!

EastonCat said it best. It's not the class of beverage, but the event itself. We have a friend who has lived all over the world, and she refers to "tea" as any meal that you have at about 4:30 in the afternoon (not just the fancy Afternoon Tea). It can be a sandwich and a cup of tea, or anything really, for that matter.

If you don't like the traditional black teas, anything herbal would suffice. Or order coffee.

This just made me feel so nostalgic! My mom is from Argentina, and tea is just that for us: An afternoon meal at around 4:30 pm, usually something light like toast and a pastry, or a little sandwich. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I'm not a tea drinker, but that Lemon Verbena with alittle sugar or sugar sweetner......oh yeah! I LOVE IT!

That's JMHO

You can also order coffee, cappuchino, champagne, soda, bar drinks.
It's a great way to spend an afternoon meal!

Enjoy!
