I posted this on the other board but I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this?

I remember seeing Samantha Brown did it and I just asked my Mom if she would like to go so I booked us for it.

Any thougths?

Who's Samantha Brown? :confused3 I'm hopelessly clueless.

My DSM, SIL and I did this a couple of years ago. It was very fun. I had peppermint tea and some sort of finger sandwiches. It was very relaxing and a good break from going to the parks all the time. Go and have fun! :)

I have done it before. Loved it. We had the grand tea.
I am doing it again in Jan with my best friend....I think we are going for tea and scones. They were delish!! :)
Very nice place. There was a bridal shower going on when we went before. Very fun to watch.

We enjoyed going. I took my little girls--but saw many people of all ages their for a proper tea.

And my little girls--handled Royal Dalton (sp?) china--and they let them (in fact they brought it without a second thought and I asked "are you sure you wanna let them"--they said if I didn't mind they didn't).

It is all very good and very tasty!! We used it as a meal--so the girls had Mrs. Potts tea and aside from more kid friendly sandwich choices-they had the same amount of food that I did. I kind of wished my tea could have had their price tag. :)

I absolutely adore tea at the GF (or just about anyplace). I try to fit it in when I go to WDW.

It makes a great break during a day at MK (I don't dress up - sorry).

One nice thing about the GF tea is that you can order as much or as little as you would like - unlike some teas where there is no choice.

I have done this twice with my daughter and loved it. The scones and Devonshire cream are wonderful. Thus was my 14 year olds favorite place to eat. I think you and your mother will love it also.

I'm planning on doing this on my next trip. That's nice that you can order as much as you want. The ones Ive been to there is no choice. I'm soo looking forward to it! :goodvibes

I haven't been yet, but I'm trying to rally support for an all girls' tea on this upcoming trip! I think it would be fun!

That's why I'd like to try it. I've gone for afternoon tea before and barely touched any of the food.

I made a reservation for my mom and I in August and I'm looking forward to it :)

It's wonderful!! I do it every trip.

The Grand Floridian's scones are the best I've had anywhere in the U.S.

We're doing this in September. I'm dragging my husband (it's just us). I hope he doesn't mutiny.

I think we'll do the Grand Tea. Maybe the sparkling wine will help him deal with the whole situation. I've looked at the menu and am looking forward to it, but I am wondering what some of it means.

The Grand Tea - The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine and your choice of tea.

What are the tea sandwiches like? What's the difference between jam tarts and tea pastries? (I'm getting hungry just typing these questions.)

Samantha Brown is the perky, blonde hostess of the shows on the Travel Channel like "Great Hotels" and several shows about Disney World.

princess pooh - your wedding pic is beautiful!!! :flower3:
Yes it is. It's one of my favorite of the wedding pictures posted.

Mom and I did it last year and it was a really nice change of pace. This trip I'm taking mom and my MIL =)

Dodie - the tea sandwiches are small crustless triangles with several fillings. I believe there was a pear with gorgonzola, egg or chicken salad (can't remember for sure), cucumber, and some kind of seafood (another one I can't remember for sure). I have been twice and the sandwiches were the same but they may make other kinds as well. They are small but very tasty and filling.

The jam tarts are a small (about 1.5" across) pie shell with red fruit filling (almost like a tiny cherry pie without the top crust). You get one of these with your scones. The pastries are offered as the dessert course and usually include a swan-shaped puff pastry with cream filling or several other eclair/puff pastry type choices (I didn't pay real close attention as I didn't order them for my dessert). You will also be served a sweet onion tart (about the same size as the jam tart) with your finger sandwiches - it is much yummier than I expected and goes well with the sandwiches.

The dessert choices are the pastries (I think you get to choose 2?), fresh strawberries with real whipped cream (delicious!) or traditional English trifle. Both times I went I ordered the strawberries but the second time my friend ordered the trifle and it was TDF - very very good! The server said it was made in the classic English way and that even the British customers were generally impressed as I guess it is often made poorly (or at least less traditionally) here in the US.

It is really quite a filling meal so be sure to have a light lunch or big breakfast and no lunch and don't plan on eating dinner soon afterwards. It is a lovely experience and I am looking forward to when I can return again!

Is there a dress code for this? I'm thinking of doing this during my next trip.

The GF tea is loads of fun. I went with a group of DIS ladies a couple of years ago when I was doing a solo trip to WDW. I really enjoyed myself and have been trying to convince my daughter, wife, and mother-in-law that it would be a worthwhile thing to do on a future trip. Two thumbs up for the GF tea.
