I know when it's 90+ degrees outside, it's not time to discuss afternoon tea, but for the fall, I thought it may be a good idea. I looked at the link on this site and menu and am a little confused. Are the items enough to substitute for lunch? Is it a la carte pricing or a 3 course event? Also, are all the teas freshly brewed or are they tea bags? Thanks!

The teas are all freshly brewed. You can order ala carte items, or set teas with various combinations of sandwiches, pastries, etc.

It's entirely possible to find enough to eat there to make it a meal, but I don't think they start serving until around 2 PM, so it would be a late lunch.

Ive never been to the GF Tea Room...actually trying it out next week on my solo trip...from what I understand there are set menu items as well as a la carte choices as well...not sure about the tea bags though...it may be 90+ degrees next week but it's never to hot for tea for me! :rotfl:

Thats the menu from allears. You can get a package, and / or ala cart items. I have my first adr for here this coming October, so I can't speak from experience, but one review I read on it the person said that they got a package, plus an extra, and said that was to much. I say stick with a package, and if you want more, add on as you go!

Ooh, and make an ADR because it does fill up quickly.

I get my tea iced. They bring out cups of ice. Usually the raspberry or a fruit one. We sometimes add more sandwiches or a cheese plate.

The Grand tea there is certainly plenty for a lunch for an adult (unless we are talking about a teenage boy here LOL!). Since they are only open from 2pm-5pm, I tend to grab a nice brunch somewhere during the later morning hours, and then the tea is perfect for lunch, and then a late dinner somewhere else :)

Most of the coursed packages are plenty for a meal, or if you aren't interested in any of those, you can certainly make a meal out of a few of the a la carte selections.

1) When we go,
. . . we eat a mid-morn (9:00am, or so) breakfast
. . . use the Tea for lunch
. . . eat a later dinner (about 6:00pm, or so)
2) A full package tea is enough to fill most people.

I would love to do tea with my daughter. We have been to a few nice afternoon teas during past trips. The GF would be a nice addition. We will be there in December. I'm sure the hotel will be beautiful as well. Do they do any special menu during the holidays?

I have been to Afternoon Tea at Grand Floridian 4 times! I love it.

Once was the My Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party with DD and it was lovely. If it wasn't so expensive I would do that one again!

So instead, I make a ressie for the Afternoon Tea.

You can definately make a meal out of it. They also so substitutions. DD only likes the Ham & Cheese and just Peanut Butter sandwiches. If you let them know they will fix it.

Also, when your CM comes to your table she will begin to ask you questions about the tea, if you like it, or would you prefer something different. Eventually, you will start to discuss what you like, citrus flavor, stong tea, weaker tea, sweet tea. Then CM will suggest a tea for you. This has always worked out for me and I have tried some delicious teas in this process.

I love Afternoon Tea, DD always comes with me. We are now making the boys go with us for our Christmas Trip. But DD and I will definately return to a girls only tea in the future!!

:goodvibes
