Afternoon tea at GF

Alright everyone you are going to think I am crazy but oh well here we go. I could not sleep last night thinking about my 1:35 ressie time and and the CM's that I have spoken to that have reassured me my time is accurate for Afternoon Tea, so I started calling bright and early this morning and ended up calling 5 times and speaking to 5 different CM's including a supervisor and everyone assured me that I would be having Afternoon Tea at 1:35 in December. The supervisor said that during December the time is changing from 1pm-5pm. :confused3 I even just called the Grand Floridian myself and spoke to a very nice lady who basically said that if all of the booking people I have spoken to said 1:35 then that is right and that Disney can change operating times and its does not mean that the 2pm-5pm is set in stone. I told her my fear was arriving at the GF at 1:30 and having them say "nope sorry for you bad luck." She assured me that as long as I have my conf # I will not be turned away and told sorry. She also added that I can call back 30 prior when they have the December schedule posted and double check those times. Either way she said not to stress out and everything will be fine :) So, not sure who is right and who is wrong as long as we do not get turned away. Okay that is The End lol.

Unfortunately you cannot book this online you have to call to make a reservation :(

Your information is incorrect. I looked it up online this morning for you, to check the dates that you mentioned. Look for Afternoon Tea in the reservation list. It's there. :thumbsup2

The easiest way to search is to start here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/#/reservations-accepted
Put in your desired date and time. You may have to play with the times a bit, but they do pop up. Using the page above brings up lots more time choices than if you try to go to the Afternoon Tea page, first.

I think it used to be that you couldn't book this online. That is not the case, now.

Ahh I stand corrected. I was not aware that they changed this! Thank you for the link also...I tried pulling up times but I think there must be a problem with my browser or something because it won't allow me to view open times for any dates :( but that is cool if this will now be something you can book online. I hate having to call in and speak to someone:thumbsup2

we went about 6 years ago or so? no kids....6 adults including my husband and grandfather. we all had fun. i would take my 4 year old boy now but it will have to wait until jan. because we have too any reservations already for the 9/2013 visit.

Just booked Afternoon Tea at GF for 2:25 on 1/17 for four. Should be able to get online and book just to make sure! I would. This will be our first time at Afternoon Tea. We are a quad of girls, so this will be fun. Me (39) My cousin (45), my niece (16) and my DD (14). I'm surprising them with this ressie! :tinker:

Afternoon Tea is wonderful. Not stuffy at all and reasonably priced since you have quite a few options. It's something we try to do at least every other trip. A great thing to do with the girls. But I've seen many men enjoying it too.

Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Ugh! Then how many different CM's do I have to talk to before someone says this? I am calling a questioning my time multiple times and they are all saying it's correct. What do I do? I made this ressie at the 180 day mark.

1) Due to the holiday crowd level, December hours are 1:00pm-5:00pm.
2) December is the ONLY month with the 1:00pm start time.
3) During other months, it is 2:00pm-5:00pm.

you will not win this argument on here I am afraid to say friend.....I gave up a while back. popcorn::

I've been to a couple of afternoon teas -- most recently at the Biltmore Hotel here in Miami -- but my dad won't go unless at some point he can order a drink (and I probably would too). Could he order, say, a scotch? Is there bar service?

Rusty actually works at WDW, so he knows things.

The issue is that there is at least one person on this thread who has been many times in December and has never experienced an opening before 2.

You can't win or not win anything until after your reservation time and you've either gotten in or not.

I knew that MY reservation was wrong because it was scheduled before 2, the CM didn't know much, took WAY too long to do it all, and it was for October (not December).

The allears menu, which is from last year July, says at the bottom "*Wine and Spirits available upon request."

Can you tell me about the tea at the GF? How long does it last? Cost? Is it fun or too stuffy? I'm considering taking my DD7 there for some girl time, but I'm worried that she may find it boring. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts! :)

Hello! I have had afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian three times, and I have had tea at the Winsdsor Court here in New Orleans many times with my 7-year-old daughter.

It is a lovely, leisurely meal at GF. I agree with another poster that it is neither fun nor stuffy--just delightful and relaxing. We typically take about 1-1/2 hours. My daughter LOVES the tea experience; we took her to tea at the GF when she was 4 for the first time, and she loved it, but it was difficult for her to sit still as you can imagine. My daughter has always liked to play "tea", and we have informal afternoon tea at home occasionally. Maybe you can tell your daughter about it and see what she has to say. Maybe you can find a tea house in your area that has afternoon tea and do a trial run there with her. I can see where children can find it boring! Good luck!

:wave2:

AW MAN! I didn't really know much about this at all, you got me super excited! It's all booked up for the day that would work best for DD and myself.

I'm going to keep trying in case there's a cancellation, she'd LOVE this after BBB on our arrival day.

I would absolutely put my trust in any of Rusty's information. I believe that he knows what he is talking about. I was just commenting because it would seem that most people who have commented on this thread that have been to Afternoon Tea simply do not believe that tea time could be scheduled before 2pm and be accurate. :)
