Has anyone done this who didn't have a princess with them? My DH and I are doing a trip in November and we love afternoon tea but don't want to feel like the only "adults only" party in the restaurant. I have made reservations but not sure if I should keep them.

I think the Princess tea may be what you're thinking of - I've read here of many adults-only parties enjoying afternoon tea at the GF.

:sunny:

2 different things. And yes many of adults do the afternoon tea.

The princess tea is held there in the morning. The afternoon tea is fantastic. There may be some children there but when we visited it was 85% adults. I would do, its outstanding and so fun to try something new. Here is a menu link http://allears.net/menu/menu_gft.htm

We enjoyed the Grand Tea for our visit. The classic English tradition of Afternoon Tea, Grand Floridian style. We offer you a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and jam tarts, followed by your choice of our freshly baked tea pastries or English trifle, accompanied by a glass of Domaine Ste.-Michelle sparkling wine and your choice of tea.

Sounds great! Thanks for the input. I didn't know that the princess thing was at a different time. I will definitely keep our reservation!:yay:

I went to tea at the GF with 3 other adults and 2 little girls (who were supposed to go to the alice tea party but were too scared so they came with us instead).

We had the Buckingham palace tea offering. The pastries were yummy and so was the tea but the sandwiches were not soft on the outside and had been sitting somewhere for awhile. The hostess was so kind to accomodate the 2 extra girls but our waitress was not the best server. She didn't explain the offerings well and we had to ask to be served our food.

The place is lovely and I would go back if I didn't have the one little girl with me (she was banging on everything and I just wanted a calm afternoon tea!)

I booked this for me and dd10 for a little girls only time since ds14 will be bringing a friend this trip. We can't wait. I wanted to order her a cake and have it brought out but not sure if it can be done there or if it has to be at TS meal, anyone know?????

In my experience, the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian is actually geared more toward adults than children. I always see kids in the dining room, but I think adult-only parties are more common. I was there in January with my mom and younger sister, and I think my sister enjoyed it least.

You can order a cake there from GF private dining. For more information on the options and who to call check out the cake chatter thread

we did the tea on last years trip. we absolutely loved it. there were only adults there when we went. we also ordered the Buckingham palace :worship:(wonderful)!!! give it a try. you really will enjoy it.

The Garden View Afternoon Tea is not a child-centric event. Have done it several times and never with children, only adults. People do bring children - there is a children's tea available (I think it's actually chocolate milk) but it's the sort of thing you do with a kid if the kid will enjoy feeling a little grown-up.

I think the previous posters have brought up that this is not the same thing as the My Perfectly Princess Tea Party.
