afternoon arrival - where to start?

arriving on a wednesday RPR, staying 2 nights....not sure how to plan. The only thing I know for sure is to go to IOA the next morning (Thursday) one hour before park opens to public to do Harry Potter world. Otherwise not sure.... would like to give kids resort time then head to US on arrival date or the reverse and go to park first and chill in the evening.... don't know if it will matter much crowd wise as we are resort guests.
The second morning (Friday, our departure day) I was going to let the kids decide if they want another IOA morning or if they want to do US morning.
Also assuming the resort will stash our bags until we depart...

What kind of tickets do you have? If it's just the one day ticket, hang out at CityWalk when you arrive and spend the day in the parks the next. Depending on when you arrive, I wouldn't waste a day on the ticket just for a few hours.

we are getting to airport around 10:40... I hope to be at resort by 12:30-1:00. We def plan to go to parks that day because we are leaving by 3:00 on 3rd day, so that is "short" day too.... only 1 FULL day. Getting 3 day park to park tix

Maybe go to IOA that evening to get a feel for the park and then try to spend some time at the Studios since you won't have the entire day for the Studios.
