afternoon arrival at MK a "no-no"?

Okay, now after reading everyone's recent trip reports, I'm a little worried. We had planned to go to the MK the afternoon of June 8th...staying thru to WISHES. Are we nuts? Should we just come MUCH later for the show, or just skip it? This will be our only chance to see WISHES...have never seen before. Should we skip it and hit Epcot instead in the afternoon, and save MK for WED a.m.? TIA!!!!!!

Well it depends. If you think you're going to ride get on the bigger rides (wthout a wait or FastPass) or any of the attractions in Fantasyland - then you're mistaken. However, you can still use FastPass and go on rides like Time Keeper, Pirates, Hall Of Presidents, etc.

I would suggest making an early dinner PS at MK or Poly, or Comtemporary and getting to the park between 5 -7pm. You'll avoid the hotter, more crowded part of the day.

Could you spend the afternoon at Epcot, hop over to MK for Wishes, then do the MK rides Wednesday AM?

When we went to WDW in March, we did this many times, although I am not sure if it will work in the summertime. we spent 1/2 day in Ak, ate off property, came back to MK that evening, next day, MGM, 1/2 day left ate dinner went to MK that evening, next day spent most of the day in Epcot, then also finished up in MK. The last day we spent the whole day in MK. I felt that MK was a lot more accessible in the night, also a lot more pretty, and not as hot! I hope this has helped somehow.

We've done it many, many times. Just don't expect to everything you want as soon as you want to do it.

I am probably in the minority, but I wouldn't get caught dead in the MK in the middle of the afternoon. We tour in the morning and do eride night. We also come back another night (besides eride) just for Wishes and the second Spectro (on a weeknight).

My first day is June 8th also. We are going to Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon, eating at LTT at 7:30, hitting a couple of rides (or just walk around) until Wishes, then we are watching the second Spectro. The second parade is always much less crowded than the first EPCOT is a great choice for a theme park that afternoon because everyone else will saving their trip to EPCOT for Wednesday, which is EMH there Just my .02 worth.

We always arrive at the MK in mid-afternoon and have no problem. But, as the OP said, the waits will be long for some things, so try not to get frustrated. It just takes a little patience, and FastPasses, of course.
