After Hours Events - Ask Questions and Share Experiences Here

We are planning to do the HS after hour after we see fantasmic. Will that eat into alot of our time? Where will we find information about the character meet and greets? Also where would you recommend we start? Tot to star wars or the other way?
We went on 7/30 to the HS AH party. I felt like Fantasmic would eat into the beginning of the party so we skipped it. We attempted to go but after seeing where we would be sitting and the realization of where the exit is with that crowd, I think it would have eaten into too much party time. Instead we did M&MRR as a walk-on at 8:55 pm. We also hit up Star Tours with no wait before 9:30.

We got there at 7:00 and browsed the shops and got a couple of things. I believe the shops close at 10:00 and we had 2 first-timers so knowing the lines would still be long with the day guests, we opted to shop a little.

You should be able to get a map showing the characters location at the front of the park when you come in. Or the wait time boards posted in the park should tell you. Those wil change over at 9:30 when the party begins.

We did the HS AH party on Thursday, August 29, and it was TOTALLY worth the money for us! We'd do it again in a heartbeat. We did 12 attractions in the 5.5 hours, moving at a reasonable pace. It was our first time seeing Galaxy's Edge and M&MRR so we did dawdle in those areas a bit. We didn't visit with the characters, but in passing, saw that the following were out: Mickey, Stitch, Rafiki, Tiana, Meeko, Pocahontas, Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio. We stopped for snacks and drinks a couple of times, and they were completely stocked with whatever we wanted right to the end of the night.

We were let in at 7pm. Headed to RotR because it was a 10 minute wait. Then did Muppets 3D since it'd be closing at 8pm. Did RnR with a 20 minute wait (while park goers were heading to Fantasmic) and ToT with a 13 minute wait. The park closed so we headed back to Galaxy's Edge while the projection show was going, did Star Tours on the way (only 5 other people on our ride so we got to sit wherever we wanted), did Smuggler's Run. Headed into Toy Story Land and did TSM with 15 minute wait. The ride did stop for about 5 minutes while we were on it. We wanted to do M&MRR next, after snacks, but it and RotR were both down for about 45 minutes so we went on SDD. It was a 30 minute wait. When we got out, we rode M&MRR twice since it was new to us and it was a 5 minute wait. Did RnR again, then RotR one more time before slowly leaving the park.

Total:
Muppets, Rise X2, Smugglers, Star Tours, Slinky, TSM, M&MRR X2, ToT, RnR X2

A couple of notes - we saw LOTS of people using the LL pathway at SDD. When we got to the merge point from our standby line, we asked the CM who was in that line. It was being used by DAS.
- we found that ride times were inflated by at least 5 minutes. The times I gave were how long we actually waited.
- don't wait in line for snacks! We did one extra ride when the lines were long and came out to no lines.
- the Skyliner does NOT run after 10:30 so we had to take a bus back to our resort.

Experiencing Hollywood Studios at night with low crowds and no sun made this the perfect event for us!

Is that a Halloween party?

Nevermind, i found it, interesting there is no theme.

After Hours events don’t typically have themes. The MK ones did only in 2021 as things reopened after Covid & they couldn’t have the actual holiday parties. Jollywood Nights just started at Studios last year & was the first themed AH there. For most of the year, there is no theme.

Hmm... I was all set to get a HS After Hours ticket on the 4th for my Feb trip, and then they go and announce Enchantment will be shown at the MK After Hours. Gah!! Decisions, decisions!!

both? :)

We did MK After Hours earlier this year when the showed Enchantment, it was really a super fun experience to roll up to the hub just 5/10 min before the fireworks show and get a front row seat and stay SITTING DOWN during the show. It was awesome. Highly recommend. :)

I only have enough for one right now. Maybe I'll go with MK and later add HS if possible.

Interesting. I guess I didn’t realize they had after parties that didn’t have themes.
It’s like just having 2 shifts for a park, Disney literally getting paid double per day. Almost like a precursor to an “ultimate” pass type thing or maybe it already is “peasents by day, elite by night” lol

I know AH for 2025 go on sale on 9/04 but does anyone know what time they’re bookable? Looking to get a MK AH for January. I’m sure I most likely won’t need to rush to buy them but I’d like to get them as soon as possible (better safe than sorry lol)

I have the same question because I'm pretty sure the date i want will sell out quickly. Just needing to know if I need to set an alarm or not...

Maybe buy the night ones instead of day tickets. If it was up to me I would do all night time events and relax by the pool during the day (I go during the summer though).

I completely agree, that sounds like an amazing way to do it!!
As a matter of fact I have been considering doing something similar, where instead of an 8-day hopper I might get a 6-day hopper and go to two parties and make those days resort days (not just pool, but WDW resort days)
The price is doesn’t compare because day 7 & 8 would be a fraction of the AH cost, but I think it could very well be worth doing!!

We usually only do 4 days so the price is close, at least I'm able to justify it. Lol. With the number you go it's not as easy to justify the cost lol. I would still consider it though. You can get a lot done at night and it's way more relaxing.

Yep, we usually don’t even get into the parks before 10-ish, and usually stay till past close. Try to jump in line for something big right before close (which I wonder if CMs hate that. lol)

Sorry... we qualify for the tickets that go on sale tomorrow-- I'm curious what time of day? 7 am Eastern? 6am?
