We were thinking about eating dinner at Boma one night (Saturday night at 6pm) after a day at the water park when we go this April. Are there any activities/things to see at the Lodge afterwards. I am not sure if we would miss the campfire, and I thought I had read, at one point, something about night-vision goggles the kids could use to look for animals. Any expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, the night vision goggles is a fun activity lead by a knowledgable Cast Member, often from Africa. It's free. There are rocking chairs around a small fire too.

While there is an outdoor fire pit (fueled by natural gas, so there's no crackling wood), the campfire itself isn't that much of an event. CMs are at fire pit many nights to tell stories or whatnot, but you should ask the front desk to see what if any scheduled activities are planned. There's also almost always an outdoor movie at night, just like all the resorts.

The night-vision goggles are a must for seeing animals at night. Disney is great about letting the animals enjoy the darkness of night, but that generally means that we can't enjoy the animals without some extra technological help.

They usually do a little music demonstration, where they let the kids play various drums and parade around the lobby. I think it's usually around 8pm, although don't quote me. If you're anywhere near the lobby, your ears won't let you miss it though! ;)

I just stayed at AKL in December and I was SO glad my room wasn't on the lobby. 8pm sounds about right.
