Where have you found the best after Christmas sales? I'm mainly looking for wrapping paper and ribbon. I'd like some little gifts to put aside too.

I haven't bought anything yet but I always have luck at CVS with plenty left when the sale hits 75-90% off. Everything still seems to be just at 50% currently.

I agree on CVS when it hits 75-90% off. I also found some good stuff at Kmart.

When do they (CVS) discount greater than 50% normally?

We stopped into Wal-Mart on Sunday and there wasn't much of anything left at ours... Some wrapping items and trees but most of the gift sets, actual décor and candy were already gone.

With Christmas being on Friday, our stores were packed on Saturday. I went to 2 stores and was turned off by how picked over they were and the crowds in the stores. I may try again late this week, but I'm not hopeful. I wanted wrapping paper and Christmas cards...

I've been shocked at how cleaned out both Target and Walmart were around here (North Atlanta). The cashier at Target told me that people were lined up at the door on Saturday before it opened and raced back to the Christmas stuff! She said it was pretty crazy!

I'm wondering if the store or district manager has leeway with this. On Saturday the CVS in my town was already at 75% and well picked over. The CVS in the next town over, which is a different district, had lots of stock left still. Some items were 50% off, mostly the candy, but the majority of the items were only 30% off.

Got seasonal ziploc bags, Saran wrap and Kleenex. Gift sets of old spice body wash for my boys. Was one of those waiting for target to open then went to Walmart and Kmart. Wrapping paper and ribbon from hobby lobby at 66% off. We will use ziplocks with Christmas ornaments on them for the rest of the year!

Hobby Lobby was 80% and had a ton left. I bought 96 items for $91!
- wreath
- 3 rolls paper and ribbon
- ceramic ornaments (My students paint these as gifts for their parents. I bought enough for the next two years)
- Thank You cards
- 25 tins (I'll put Chex Mix or something similar in these for the staff at DD's school)
- 20 small notepads with pens (for the staff at my school)
- candy
- plates, napkins, and cupcake wrappers for an after Christmas party next week (black with gold ornaments on them. Very pretty.)
- boxes, bags, tape, and tissue paper

I think those days are gone now that the economy is getting in better shape...

I don't know if it's that or of its people figured it out and started buying stuff before it gets to 75% off. I remember going and there'd only be a few people at that back of the store looking over the clearance. Now that area is like a madhouse when the stuff is only 30% off.

I think you are right.. More people just figured it out. It's hard though for me to buy the stuff at 30% when I know it could be 75%.

I went to our local Target last night. Some items were 50% and some items were only 30%. There was quite a bit of Christmas stuff still there.
There was also Easter candy out (not on sale) but that is another topic :sad2:

I think it is due to all the deal/coupon sites that announce the sales/deals. Most of the sites became very popular after that one coupon show (sorry can't remember the name right now). Now there's a lot of people that were used to paying full price just happy getting the 30-50% off, which doesn't leave much for those of us that would wait for the 75-90% off.
