After 7 years on the DIS I got my first ever nasty

I've had someone here PM that I should leave the country because I disgareed on her view of the war in Iraq. (and it turns out there are no WMDs in the first place) My response-I ignored her and wrote off her credibility. People of that ilk don't deserve the dignity of a response. Ignore the ignorant I always say!

OK, now a am LMAO at the responses below mine! I hope none of you took those PM's (did I get that right? LOL) to heart.

Can I admit though, that one time, I signed someone's guest book about the best love songs of all time and did NOT include the Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody. I told them their list was the worst I'd had ever seen in all my days on the net. To this day, I have felt guilty about that, but I still say, that there should be no love songs list, without this song in it! LOL

Well, I haven't read through all the replies, but just wanted to say that I know my cats' birthdays and will definitely be celebrating my older cat's 16th birthday this October 25th! Also, my kitten's 1st birthday is July 25th... won't be as momentous as the 16 year old's birthday, but still...

Oh, and I volunteer also... just because we care about someone doesn't make us not have a life.

I don't even remember what I posted or when. Tried replying but they are not receiving. Someone who has 18 posts, but sure knows a lot about everyone on the board. BTW in case they are reading -- I don't read every post because I have a life. I might have logged on for 10 min. and decided to reply to a dog birthday thread. So as my dog would say -- BITE ME!!!
P.S. I volunteer for lots of charities, I'm in the process of planning an event right now for CF.

I fear this is what is going to happen a lot more now that the debate board is closed...

I know there are a lot of GOOD DB people, but there were also some bad seeds whose primary function in life is making other people miserable and putting them down. They can't debate anymore, so the bad guys/gals will probably take to harrassing people on the CB. I would report the PM to a mod.

Is that really a fair statement? I am sorry that the OP got a mean PM really, that stinks. I don't think you can honestly blame the closing of the DB or the people who posted on DB especially since according to the OP the PM happend back in early May.

I consider myself someone who likes to read and post here at the disboards, many of them although mostly the planning areas. Although I only posted to the DB a few times and here at the CB many times I think some of the generalizations on both sides are unfair.

To the OP - don't worry and try and ignore it if you can. IIRC you can choose not to receive PM's.

Well, Kay, I've gotten a lot more "fan mail" than you have over the years.

I remember your thread about your doggie's birthday. I thought it was so sweet! You said something like your family doesn't know what terrible thing your dog had done to her first owners that they got rid of her. And she's never told you, either.

Maybe the PMer thought if you didn't celebrate your dog's birthday, it would cure someone's illness or spare somebody's life?

Honestly, when I get stuff like that, I never answer it. Some folks thrive on trying to get other's goats. Don't let 'me think they did.

I feel your pain.

I don't understand why people feel the need to be nasty. A person should be able to give their opinion on a given subject without being nasty about it.

I recently started a thread about a topic I thought was interesting. I never expected to get so many nasty comments from people. Opinions on the subject were welcome, but the nastiness from some was very hurtful.

I rarely start threads, and the responses I got will cause me to start even less.
