Aft or Forward???

Okay DH is concerned about stateroom location. We have always been midship or forward. We are currently booked aft on deck 6. DH is concerned that we will feel more motion from the boat and/or vibrations from the engines. Please send me your experience from cruising aft. Thanks!

We have been forward on Deck 2 and felt no motion, and only heard noise from neighbors & the clubs above us. I know that the aft balconies are very sought after so it can't be bad back there!!! We are booked aft on our next cruise also on Deck 2, and think it's gonna be great! I wouldn't worry about engine noise, tell your DH it will be fine

We have cruised in all 3 locations and we love aft. It is very quiet and the elevators are not nearly as busy as midship. You do feel the thrusters from engines when docking but it is tolerable. We have never had any issues with motion sickness even in 14ft swells. Hope this helps

Personally I've found more motion forward than aft, although I couldn't tell you why. If you were fine with forward, aft should be no problem.

We usually end up aft...and it's lovely. The elevators are definitely less busy, and it's closer to the drink station. It's quiet, and we've never had issues with motion from engines. On our next cruise, we ended up more mid-ship and were actually a bit disappointed (for only a split second...I mean, we're still going on a Disney cruise after all!) that there weren't any balcony rooms available that were further aft. HTH...

I usually go mid-ship and aft but the one time that I went forward we had rough seas and you could really feel it forward, not aft. On our next trip we are on Deck 6 Aft on the Dream. I've heard that this deck is the sought after deck for aft balconies. My DD wanted this because she felt it would be nice to see everything at once and not just one side of the ship.

I'm glad he's happy, but I would say that his concern about vibrations is not completely unwarranted. There can definitely be some shaking going on in those aft staterooms when docking. As long as you're prepared for that, I think you'll really enjoy your deck 6 aft stateroom. It's definitely our favorite location on the ship.

We will be taking our first Disney Cruise in the Bahamas and wondered if people could share their top 5 or more tips for Disney Cruising?

We will be my wife and I, age about 55, pretty active folks and will be parking our small RV at Port Canaveral.

I haven't cruised before, so I was curious as to why the concierge cabins are all forward on the Dream when it looks like so many people prefer mid or aft. I went ahead and booked a concierge room, but now I'm a little worried! Are the forward rooms really bad? Did they put them up front because of the views or is that just where there was room?

Yes, you're right. We love deck 2 aft, right near the elevators. You do hear and feel vibration when thrusters are in use but hey, what % of the cruise is that? Very small amount of time. For us it's worth being close to aft elevators for deck 9 drink station and be able to have an affordable window. (compared to cat.8)
Anyone whose been on a personal boat knows, the bow is bouncier than stern. When my dad would take us fishing, he'd send us to the back of the boat if we got seasick. From there, it's easy to see the bow going up and down with the waves. On a ship, it's a much grander scale but same principle.
I don't know why they'd put suites fwd. I'll never sail in one so I guess not something for me to worry about. lol!

With the Dream being larger and having updated systems, how much motion do you really think you will be able to feel in forward rooms, especially on Decks 7 and up? And exactly where are the dividing lines between forward, midship, and aft?

I have two rooms booked on the Dream-8030 and 8036 and am worried now about motion sickness. Should I relocate to the aft of the boat? There are no midship rooms left in my catagory-

You are actually right in the middle of the decks. I usually got Deck 7 on both the Wonder and the Magic and when we were on the Magic and had a Deck 7 forward cabin and it was really rough waters you could really feel it, though I think you could really feel it no matter where you were on the ship that night since they were handing out seasick pills at the desk. LOL
