African Margarita

What the what? The African margarita is now 14.75. It was 8.25 I think in December? And now it's premixed. Sadness drink prices have gone up an insane amount.

The Dawa bar in Africa. Not sure exactly what's in it but it's on the rocks and pretty yummy. Even the premixed frozen margaritas in Asia were $14.75. And no, the sizes aren't any bigger now either. I guess I could understand if the prices went up a bit but almost double?

Yikes, that is a huge jump. Is this just at AK or are alcohol prices going up across the board? Mama definitely loves to drink her way through the world.

Seriously? I was just there 2 weeks ago and paid $8.25 ($0.75?) for a Triple Yeti from that stand! I like to have a drink or two when we're there but at $14.75.. forget it!

I know!! It really annoyed me Those margaritas are kind of mine and my mom's go to drinks on our AK day. Once I was over the shock of the huge price bump I decided to walk back to the frozen ones at the kiosk. Even though the frozen premixed ones are pretty subpar I figured I'd still be paying the $9 price. Nope. Insane that those are 14.75. I wonder if they're testing prices there? At Cava in Epcot my margaritas were still around $13? But they're free poured and kind of specialty so I figure they're work the $$$ I seriously doubt they'll be that price for long. I can almost guarantee if the prices stick at AK they'll go up everywhere else

It's an assanine price increase. I can see (maybe) raising the price to $10 but $14.75 is just ridiculous. If the other parks follow I'll just buy a bottle ahead of time and have a drink in my room once I'm back at the resort.

Definitely interested to see how this plays out.

Part of the appeal of our Disney vacations has been it works for our entire family ... Adults and kids.

And part of the appeal to my husband and I is getting to relax unlike we do at home. We are constantly running with the kids, we both coach sports and our focus these days is mostly on the family, less frequently on socializing or going out to enjoy adult time.

At Disney, we are able to incorporate both. We spend time with our kids, as a family but also enjoying adult time. The kids are of the age we don't feel we have to pass on adult beverages in order to keep things running smoothly. Time at Epcot is especially enjoyable. Staying on property we have no driving to worry about.

We know drinks were always priced more than the real world but we would treat ourselves and even ask for gift cards at holidays to use. But seriously doubling prices is just too much.

It is all going up, I get it, but for us there is overpriced but worth it once a year and plain ridiculous.

If this is indeed true and they raised them that much, I'll be pretty disappointed. I'll be there in a few days so I'll swing by and check prices again and see if their still so high. Idk what they think would warrant such a price like that.

I enjoy those frozen drinks from the stand, mainly the triple one :/

According to the WDW website (admittedly, a source of much outdated and incorrect information), the African margarita and the ones at Upcountry are $8-something, and those same drinks in the souvenir mugs are $14.75. OP, is it possible you were looking at the prices with the mugs? If not, that is a hefty price increase indeed!

Not sure about the souvenir cup. The 14.75 price was the only one listed on the boards. In the exact same place that it used to say 8.75. And I only saw people with regular cups

And what ticks me off about things being premixed is that it means (at least the bartender said) that you don't have the option of ordering it "virgin", get the taste for less price and no alcohol (yes, some people really don't want alcohol). When I was at Dawa bar and tried to order [I forget which drink] "virgin", I was told that since it was premixed, there wasn't a virgin option.

And this is the first year - ever - that we are going to WDW for Christmas and we were so looking forward to some adult Christmas cheer in the parks. I guess I'm going to have to get creative... I haven't needed a flask since college but might consider it

Ugh!! And I know it wasn't premixed a couple of years ago because I remembered hanging at the Dawa bar while she made it. I remember that the bartender was nice but a little slow

It also notes that it's served in a novelty mug. You should be able to get the same drink in a generic cup at a reduced price.
