My husband and I had booked a trip to Orlando this past August for a week. We were set to leave on Sept. 20th when the unthinkable thing happened (Sept. 11th.) and even though we are Canadian flying out of Bangor, Maine, my husband was adamant we were not going through with the trip. I on the other hand was not going to accept the loss for the airline tickets quite so quickly. Unfortunate as it was, I wanted to go ahead with out vacation. I told him I was going with or without him and ultimately he did choose to come. We were leary of crossing at the border, not knowing to what degree we would be questioned or what to expect. I didn't pack anything questionable. We had all our paperwork, birth certificates and photo I.D. with us, no passports. I had printed off all the reservation confirmations we had made and took them with us as well. We never had a problem at all. Even at the airport, flying with PanAm we never encountered unusual waits and our bags were never searched. The only reason I can contribute to that is that we bought our tickets on-line and had to provide personal information at that time. So they would have had plenty of time to check out who we were by the time we were due to fly out a week later. We had a great trip. Even though we were on a vacation we were forever reminded of what was going on in New York and it was always on our mind. I felt safer in one way, knowing they were taking more precautions but on the other hand I found myself watching the people around me and even the stewardesses to see their reaction to the people around them. But in all it was a great trip. Go have a good trip, we did.
