So maybe this is a silly question, but I really struggle with heights. Do you think this is going to be an issue for me? Obviously I would not walk near the edge of the ship. Will probably get an oceanview room instead of verandah. Does anyone else have that issue?

Thanks in advance!

I'm terrible with heights and had no problems on our cruise. I can't go near the railings at multi-story shopping malls, but the ship didn't bother me at all. We had a verandah and I was fine out on the deck. (There were lifeboats directly underneath us which probably helped a little bit - I couldn't see straight down.)

I am afraid of heights as well. But being on upper floors in buildings does not bother me. Much of the ship would be like being inside of a multi-story building. As far as a verandah or the deck railings, I do not think that will bother me either, at least while the ship is at sea. The ocean is vast and will likely distort your perspective, making it harder to judge the distance to the water. For this reason, I do not believe that a verandah would bother you either, unless you go out to the railing and actually look down.

I hope this helps.

I hate heights, can't even stand directly next to the window inside tall buildings without legs getting all wobbly. But had no problems on the ship at all, including looking over the railings. I think a PP is right about the vast ocean distorting things, or its just I am so relaxed on the ship, nothing bothers me at all!

Thank you all so much! That makes me feel a ton better. I too, cannot stand near a railing in multi-level mall. Looking out is ok, but not straight down. Out of curiosity, do all the verandahs have life boats directly below? That would probably really help.

Like others have said I am really afraid of heights and I had no issues at all on either the Wonder or Fantasy. We've had verandah rooms and I've never felt uncomfortable. The lifeboats go all around the boat. You'll notice them more as being directly below you if you're on deck 6. Our last 2 cruises we've been on deck 8 and 10 so you really don't even notice the lifeboats there and still I had no issues with height. I even stood on the top deck and looked over without feeling uncomfortable.

Directly below? No.

My cousins had a balcony room on, hmm, deck 6 ? on Dream, and the lifeboats were just down from their balcony.

I'm terrified of heights and had no problem anywhere except the top of the Aquadunk.

I have only been on the Magic / Wonder. I sometimes have an issue with heights. I just never felt very high up on the ships. We have always had a verandah and I love it out there. I feel more in touch with the sea than towering above it actually. Maybe looking down from highest deck is not a good idea. Otherwise, when you pass windows, etc, the sea seems Right There. I don'T know how much higher the Fantasy feels. I will find out in April.

I am terrible with heights. I have had verandah rooms. I usually don't stand next to the railing unless we are docked somewhere. Just don't like it. Will sit out, if the ocean isn't too rough. The top decks have railings, didn't bother me much there. Inside was fine for me. You will be fine.
