Affordable maternity clothes

I haven't bought a lot of maternity stuff from Target, but most of my Saturday wardrobe is from there and has held up for three or five years. For the price, I think most of their stuff is a good value - I wouldn't buy foundational pieces from Target, but Maternity clothes that you'll wear two months? Clothes the kids are going to grow out of? That works.

The BEST deal in maternity clothes is a friend or relative around your size who has recently had a baby.

And I agree with the elastic waistband pants - I wore those until month seven, and wore them four years later. Those, with a large t-shirt (also continued to be worn on weekends for years, and a large cardigan (I STILL wear one of those, my baby is twelve) did me pretty well. A lot of women raid their husband's closet for shirts.

Don't overbuy. You really won't need too much.

It may well also pay to talk to friends or relatives about any old (maternity)clothes they might still own.

A co-worker who was pegnant a fewyears back always looked great. Everyone marveled at how great she looked....eventually she revealed that she was getting non maternity stuff in larger sizes from the clearance rack. So it might not hurt to try that avenue as well.

I would typically buy a few nice (base) pieces at Motherhood that I knew would 1) last, and 2) be acceptable for work. I would then suppliment with daily tees and some sweaters from Target. I bouhgt my winter coat through Motherhood and foudn it to be a great investment!

Old Navy didn't get rid of their maternity line, they still carry it. The best selection is online, but some stores have some items as well.

I have a winter swing coat that has been loaned out to half a dozen "nine months pregnant during a Minnesota Winter" girlfriends - and works for the non-pregnant me as well.

I gave away most of my dds maternity clothes on Freecycle....do you have a local group? (One of my friends at work gave my dd her clothes...so they were recycled to begin with :cutie:)
