We've been thinking about Orlando this June...

We asked my inlaws if they would be interested in splitting a house with us, but it looks like that may be a no-go. So I am trying to find a clean, safe affordable place to stay for 5 people in June.

We will be driving to FL, so we'll have a car with us, but DH will need that to go to his convention for 3 days, so I would really like a place that offers a free shuttle service.

My kids are used to staying in houses and condos on vacation, so hotel rooms seem really tight to us. But if we plan on being at the park all day.... :) I would MUCH prefer the kids to have actual beds (rather than a pullout sofa or cot), so we'd need at least 3 real beds. DH is 6'2" so we'd also really like to see at least one of those beds at least Queen size.

I went through the entire AAA book and looked at places, and have a nice list, but I much prefer real-life referrals!

I would Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, and Staybridge, hawthorne hotels.

We are family of five now and need some where that sleeps 5 people now. The boy has have his on bed now.

OP wants three real beds. Suite type hotels, including the ones mentioned by the PP generally have two beds and a sofa bed.

Condo style accommodations is what the OP is looking for. Book Vistana as a hotel guest $$ and you'll get a free shuttle otherwise there is a charge.

Bonnet Creek is one of the few timeshare condos that offer reasonably good shuttle buses.

Check the threads on that property.

The Caribe Royale has two bedroom villas at a good price. One room with king bed, and one room with two queens. Two full baths, full kitchen, 3 tvs, daily maid service. Smaller pool just for the villas, and huge beautiful pool for the whole resort. No resort fees, free parking.

I have not stayed here, but it is where I want to stay when we go back. Mousesavers has a discount, plus they have a one-day sale every Wednesday on their own website.

They do have a shuttle to the parks, not sure how often it runs.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the ideas. I will look into all of them.

I do prefer the kids have real beds, but my youngest is a tiny 4-year-old, so if it comes down to him sleeping on a sofa bed or us not going, I think he'll be ok. :) I just know how uncomfortable they can be - I don't want anyone over 35 pounds on one!

I know the Caribe Royal was on my list of things from the AAA book, so I will certainly give that one some attention.

Thanks again!

Oh, well, that opens it up a little. Cause you usually have hotel/hotel-like places with good shuttles but with a sofabed. OR you have condo places with three beds but not terrific shuttles. I guess it depends on what you need/want the most.

I think there are two downtown disney suite hotels that would have pretty good shuttles.....I can think of the DoubleTree but I thought there was another.

I don't know, I'm not saying it's impossible, but if I did Disney and knew I didn't have a car for some of the time I'd probably be on-site. And I know, one POR room for 5 isn't super fun (we've done it twice) but being at Disney IS super fun! Good luck with your decision. :)

We are staying at Mystic Dunes resort in March which is very reasonably priced and the condo-style accommodations are great. A 2 bedroom/2bath has a king in one bedroom and 2 Queens in the other along with a sleeper sofa in the living room and a full kitchen.

We are staying at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista in April. It has the usual bedroom/separate living area w/sofabed setup. It was $95 on cheapostay.com the week before Easter. Breakfast, pool and shuttle to the parks included. Lots of good reviews, might be worth a look for your family of five too - Julie

Hmm I would still go with a house or condo rental if you don't want to stay onsite. I booked one for my sister's family for June for something like $550 and it has 3 bedrooms and private pool for 6 nights. I remember seeing a few for about $600

Have you been there before? I saw this hotel when I was looking, and it seems great. It would be perfect for us, and the rates are good. Just wondering if you've been there before?

What about looking into getting an additional rental car for a couple of days? You can pick up and drop off at the Dolphin with Alamo and National. That may open up your choices for a condo rental.

We own the week between Christmas and New Years there. It's a very nice resort and convenient to the parks. You can go left on 192 about half a block and turn on Sherbeth road if going to Animal Kingdom. For the rest of the parks, you turn right on 192 and follow the signs. Minutes to all of them.

I recently booked the Sheraton Vistana on hotwire for an excellent rate. This will be my first stay. Betterbidding.com has good tips on booking hotels through hotwire and priceline. With hotwire not sure you could get a two bedroom villa guarantee or not - might end up with a one bedroom. This property may be best with a car rather than depending on a shuttle.

Thanks again to all for the advice. We really need a place to stay now because I just bought our YES tickets! :dance3::dance3:

We have considered just renting a second car for the 3 days DH has the convention. We've also considered just staying at the resort during the day and going to the parks in the evening when the convention is through for the day. And, of course, we are looking into places with shuttles. So many options!

I love hearing the Mystic Dunes is ok, because it looks like it may be a great arrangement for us!

I've never tried Hotwire or anything like that. I'll look into it.

We have firends who are trying to get rid of their week at Vistana, and offered it just for the cost of their maint. fee. Of course, it's the week AFTER we'd be going, so we could not take advantage of it. :(

I'll be doing some looking this weekend. What else do I have to do with all this snowy weather???
