Thanks for the info - that's what I was planning on getting. I went to a similar dinner function with the military last year & it was a very dressy event also. It should be fun, I just don't want to break the bank on a dress.

Have you checked www.bluefly.com? Overstocks.com sometimes has some good deals too. Nordstrom.com sometimes has good deals on their sale dresses too and their shipping is a $5 fixed fee, I think. I ordered three from them last year and ended up only keeping one, but it was a painless way to go.

Mandy, I OWN THAT DRESS!!!!! You look SO good in it...way better than me. That was made for you. I ended up having to pin the dress together where I'm supposed to have more...oomph at the top.

I'm sure more suggestions will come along.

I agree with this being a good time at stores like Macy's. Another GREAT time for clearance dresses is right after prom. JCPenney and Macy's slash the prices big time to get rid of the dresses (since you said you'd probably need a new one every year). Good Luck!!

I bought a nice long evening dress from Chadwicks for $29.99. It was on sale and I had a code. Do a search for "Chadwick discount code" or something to get a current code. I will try to find one too. It is pretty decent quality too. It has spaghetti type straps, an empire waist (I think that is what it is called - a high waist) and then long and straight to the floor. The color is periwinkle.

Clearance! Try all the larger stores they often have beautiful dresses relatively cheap. Also Fashion Bug, I bought a gorgeous evening gown there in December for $30 w/ shawl, it was a big hit! =o)
