We will be booking our flight for our next trip using Aeroplan miles.
Any tips on booking flights this way.
It will be four of us traveling together so I'm hoping we will be able to get a flight.
Would appreciate any tips!
Thanks

My best advise would be to book early and make your travel arrangements around your airfare. Sometimes it may not be available for the specific dates your looking for but it could be available the day before or after.

Have you used their website? I prefer doing it that way so I can play around with the dates on my own instead of having someone on the phone.

Good Luck and Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help!

Book as far as possible in advance. We have used aeroplan for various trips and try to book the 356 days in advance. (9 days less a year) A few years ago it was easy to get the 4 seats for the 100,00 points this year I think we used like 150,000 and this was farrrrr in advance and Im sure we were some of the first people on these flights. Every year seems like fewer aeroplan seats per flight. Good luck and I hope you get the flights you want.

I did Aeroplan this year, and I don't think I would do it again.
To be honest you don't save much money if you are booking the hotel seperatly because with aeroplan you still have to pay taxes and departure fees.
Ours amounted to about $100.00/person.
Also too make sure that the time you are travlling isn't too busy. I almost didn't get a hotel room that coincided with my air travel.
Good luck

In my years of dealing with Aeroplan, I believe it is the worst airline program in the industry. FLights are hard to come by unless you are flying directly out of YZ, UL, or VR. I now fly strictly on American carriers (as I live close to the border) and use my points for car rentals, hotels etc.

For me, that is the only value left in the points!

As others have said, book way in advance! I was able to get a flight to Orlando in August using my aeroplan miles. I've been trying to use them for years but they never had any free seats avialble on the flights I needed.

If you are Aeroplan Super Elite, it is a breeze to get flights to Orlando.

book early ( I booked late October for mid may trip) - use the online 14 day calendar - and definately check the partner airlines-

Could not get 3 seats at the 25K level with aircanada but got it on United.

Winnipeg to orlando with only transfer in Chicago - About as direct as possible !! Also layovers in Chicago are 1& 2 Hrs vs 5 & 7hrs with Air Canada! ( no chance I'm trying to keep the DD(5) and DW both happy in an airport that long)

cost me $240 in fees/taxes etc for the three of us.

A couple of years ago my dad had Super Elite status. He was able to book a ticket for me to Orlando when the Air Canada website said there were no more flights for regular Aeroplan members. Pretty cool! But I think he was flying 2-4 times a week to get that.

Thank You for all the helpful replies.
I guess I don't have this super elite status ...just run of the mill, average joe status. :rotfl2: HaHa

We will definitely book early. We are still beyond the one year mark for departure so that is an advantage.

We are somewhat flexible when it comes to dates that will work for us so that will be an advantage.

I'll let you know how it works out.
