For all of you that use an aerobed in the villas, I'd like to ask a few questions.

1. Where did you buy it?

2. Is it fast and easy to inflate and deflate?

3. Do you like it?

Thanks!

Donna

I have a couple of Aero beds - I haven't used them at Disney but in my home. I have a queen size one which I bought at BJ's Wholesale club for $99.99. It has a rechargeable pump, which is good if you need it camping. We also have a twin sized, that I bought at Bed & Bath & Beyond, for I think $49.99 or $59.99.

I am a Pooh sized woman LOL and have slept on the Queen size, and found if very comfortable.

When we were at the VWL, my DH slept on the pull out couch because my DS wasn't feeling up to par, so he slept with me. My DH said the Pull OUt wasn't bad - but he isn't Pooh Sized.

I have a GV in HH this summer. I think I will bring the Aero Bed to replace the Pull Out in the Living room.

It takes less than 1 minute to inflate and less than 1 minute to deflate. Comes in a bag, just throw a sheet set and blanket in the bag you are all set. I think it would be more comfortable than the Pull Outs.

My inlaws use their aerobed every night. They love it. It takes very little time (less than a Min) to set up or take down. They also used it at OKW when we were there instead of the pullout. They work great and you can't go wrong.

I have an air mattress, not an aero bed though. I place it on top of my pull-out at home to make it more comfortable. I use the fitted sheet and place it over both the aero and mattress on the sofa bed so it doesn't move. That way, you're not sleeping on the floor, and it's more comfortable than the sleeper sofa.

You can get Aerobeds on QVC. We bought a copy cat one from Sam's Club. It has a battery operated inflation system and it is a queen size. We paid around $40.00 for it. Works great for the kids when we travel. Last trip, we had a gender problem with the grand villa and the families we travelled with, so we set up the two 9 year old girls on it and they had no problems with it for two weeks.

HI, we have two twin size aero beds. We bought them at Target and love them. They blow up very quickly and you can control the firmness. We bought them for travel purposes and when we have guests at our home. My husband even takes it camping!! They are very comfortable.

We did take ours to BCV over the summer. We were in a two bedroom with my sisters family. There were 8 of us and we wanted to keep the living area free of sleeping. I also feel my DS's are too young (5 and 2) to sleep that far away from me with so many avenues of escape. We slept in the Master and put an aero bed on either side of the bed. We did need to move the chair but we put it in the living room for additional seating for the adults. The sheets, pillows and aero beds fit nicely in a soft sided suitcase.

Hope this helps.

I have one like an aerobed from Target. It has a battery run pump, and inflates and deflates VERY fast. I bought it for my Girl Scout troop's sleepovers (I can't stand being on the hard floors, I'm too old for that!).

It comes in a nice bag to carry it can I have been able to set it up and take it down very quickly at our sleepovers. I believe the one at Target was less expensive than the aerobed brand ones. It was near the camping supplies with the sleeping bags.

Had my father get us one for Christmas after using his 2 times. I plan to take it to BCV this July. There are only 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids, for a 2 bedroom (with 2 queens in second bedroom), but the 2 boys (14) are too old to want to share a bed and the 2 girls (11) have tried and it does not work due to one snoring and the other is a light sleeper. At home they each have bunk beds.

So we will probably put just 2 kids in the second bedroom, each with their own queen size bed and the other 2 will sleep in the living room, one on the sofa bed and the other on the AreoBed.

FYI, just in case anyone is wondering how I had ended up with 2 boys 14 years old and 2 girls 11 years old. My wife and I were both divorced and remarried. Kind of a Brady Bunch thing. We each had a son and a daughter and they get along amazingly.

My kids are Disney veterans, but this will only be the second trip for my wife's kids. We did a family honeymoon at Disney in 2002.
I had almost bought into DVC with my first wife, but glad I waited.
Now that there are 6 of us, we had to move up to the DVC sized rooms. We tried a Fort Wilderness cabins in 2002, way too small.

Thanks,
Rex

I have two twin Aerobed mattresses and one fullsize.

Two have rechargeable pumps and one has the electric pump. Word of warning - be sure that rechargeable pump is charged before you intend to inflate the bed - they don't work when plugged in to the outlet!

1. I bought all of mine at www.overstock.com. It says "reconditioned" on the site, but none looked like they were ever removed from the box. I paid around $50 for the twin and $60 for the full.

2. They're extremely easy to inflate and deflate. They pack up really nicely too. I always wondered what to do with those extra little travel bags that come with sets of luggage. They're a perfect size for the mattress, pump and sheets. It can also fit into a large backpack, if you have older kids with the shoulder strength to carry it around the airport.

3. I love them! There's no way I could put my two younger boys on a sleep sofa (240 and 200 pounds) without having our annual dues go up for replacements. ;-) When points are available, we try to spread out in a 2-br, but it's nice to have the 1-br option when it's just the four of us.

Thanks for all the great info. My DD is in college now and brings friends home and we need some extra bedding. Since I remembered many of you take the aerobeds to our home away from homes, I thought I would ask you experts before I bought one. I'm going to check out target tomorrow but www.overstock.com (Thanks, wdwsos!) has some really great deals and only charges 2.95 for shipping.

Once again, you all came through for a fellow DVCer! Thanks a million!

I also agree with the others. The aerobed is very comfortable and super quick and easy to use. We have used a twin in both AKL and at the VWL in a studio. I think there has been debate on whether a full or queen would fit OK in the villas, though...

Good luck!

I currently have 2 both are raised aero beds, almost as high as a regular bed. Without stirring any size debates of villas with Richyams;) Here is our experience...
The queen fit beautiful in the 2nd bedroom at OKW we simply moved the table over, never an issue.
We used the queen the following May at Beachclub and it was a tight fit but it did fit between the slider and master bed.
We attempted to use it in July in the same space in the master bedroom at Boardwalk but simply could not get it to fit.
Is the beachclubs master slightly larger than BWV?
After that trip we bought the twin sized and have used it several times in the master bedroom at boardwalk. We bring sheets, a small fleece balnket it has an inflate/deflate pump built in. We as a family never use the pullout as I want all the kids in the master with me. It has worked out great so far.I would highly recommend the raised aerobeds, That way the child does not feel they are on the floor.
Both of mine came from walmart.com queen was around $80. The twin came from Target.com was around $45

I'm thinking that an aerobed or knockoff may be the ticket for our upcoming trip. My only concern is that we're flying and I'm not sure that it will fit okay in a suitcase. What do you think? I'm thinking we may could buy it when we arrive in Orlando and ship it home. Can anyone tell me how they get their aerobeds there when they fly?

Ours came with a duffle like bag that you roll it up into. I would think you would just check it in in the bag it comes with.

We travel with our Aerobed all the time. It came with a duffle like bag. We have traveled with it many times, and have
had no problems. I have noticed a few small tears in the duffle bag, but that is to be expected after 20+ flights.

We just check ours with the other bags at the airport. With the tighter rules about luggage weight restrictions, I definitely wouldn't waste suitcase room on an Aerobed. We've had no problems doing this. (Also learned about Aerobeds from lurking on the DIS - thanks all!)

Just to add my .02, we have the Aerobed "Sleep Away" bed and it is great if you have little ones. It is smaller than a twin (size capacity 150lbs) and the sides are higher than the middle to prevent the child from rolling out. It is perfect for DD (almost 4 yo) and since she is on the smallish side, it should last for years. We plan on bringing it with when we spend Christmas this year :teeth: but we are driving so no transportation problems. With this smaller bed, I think I could probably fit it on the bottom of a large suitcase but it would add weight. When we fly to my DSis's in July, I think I will buy a cheap canvas duffle and check it thru.

very helpful thread (15yo DS ~ and almost 6' tall ~ hates the skimpy pull-out, & winds up sleeping on seat cushions on the floor  )

about how much does the twin weigh, and what are the approx "uninflated" dimensions? (just trying to figure one into our luggage allowance, either as a carry-on or in a suitcase)

TY!!

Dis a search and here is the info for a twin LSchrow

Twin: Size 74"x39"x7"
Max Weight 650 lbs.
Product Weight 14 lbs.
