I have a twin aerobed for ds because he doesnt' want to share a bed with his bro after about 2-3 nites. anyway, we are flying this time and since i'm not a frequent flyer---do i check this or carry it on? thanks!!!!Happy New Year!!!!

IF it matches these dimensions from Amazon.com Dimensions: 16 x 10.5 x 9 inches ; 15.5 pounds it is technically ok for carryon.

I would check it, however. You could put it inside a 21 inch carryon, as well. I am not that familiar with an aerobed but I suspect that you wouldn't want to risk a puncture or worse, accidental inflation.

We travel with DS's kids aero bed - we bought a luggage set that came with a small duffel that it fits in perfectly - and we check it. I've heard of people checking them just in the thin bags they come in, but that just seems a little too flimsy for me. I just make sure the pump is padded by either the bed or by DS's sheets that we stuff in there as well.

I thought I remembered reading that they aren't "built" to withstand being checked baggage. If you're checking other bags, I would buy a suitcase or duffle put it inside and check it. We don't have the aerobed, but usually carry an air mattress, pump, and sheets in one of our bags for DD.

We have checked a twin areo bed many times without a problem. We got a new one which seems heavier then the old one, and the bag a taken a little bit of a beating but over 20 flights we never had an issue.
