Does Disney have any rules regarding Aerial Photography Platforms (Quadcopters)? Some uninformed people call them drones--drones are instruments of war.

Wasn't aware that Amazon was planning to engage in warfare ;)http://www.forbes.com/sites/gregorymcneal/2014/07/11/six-things-you-need-to-know-about-amazons-drones/

Apart from that, I'm not aware of any rules at Disney regarding use of UAV's for photo/video purposes. I'm of two minds: First is the old saw about being better to ask forgiveness than permission. The other thought that comes to mind is "Forewarned is forearmed" - in other words, better to know the risk before you start in. I think the best advice would be to contact guest services and ask them directly.

Our national parks have banned drones (otherwise known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), including ones that only carry cameras. I would expect that a theme park would not allow them even if the parks do not have rules specifically banning them.

Many entertainment venues ban them because of the liability if they come crashing down. There is also the concern of the possibility of the FAA ruling on these. It seem the FAA was caught being behind the curve on this issue and there is some concern they will issue some type of ruling. Therefore entertainment venues (including where I work) have taken a very conservative approach and said, "no". I would be shocked if Disney allowed them just based on the liability issue.

I am well aware of the FAA issues involved. They have no regulations and regarding their use, with the exception of those applying to RC model aircraft.

I'm not looking to launch anywhere inside the parks, for safety reasons, but I'd like to grab some aerial views of our resort.

I have one and would never try to take to a park. They are sensitive to interference with electrical signals. I had it drop out of sky at a running event being too close to buildings with strong wifi.

I did want to take on a cruise but DW said no!

someone has already successfully utilitzed one on the "Dream" in Castaway Cay as well as on the beach there. Youtube has It somewhere.

There are still a lot of people around at the resorts, not as much as being in a park but I'd personally feel weird and feel like I am breaking a law if I tried something like that.

Good luck if you try though, can you some epcot resort footage and share...would love to see a different persepective of them.

I've wanted to take mine and launch it from our room balcony.

But I was banned....by my wife!:sad::sad:

First thought...bad idea. Im pretty sure the amount of people in the parks/resorts will notice a quadcopter and report it.

As for disney security, I dont think they'd take kindly to a drone flying anywhere in the WDW Resort.
