Tough to say, though the primary purpose of the image isn't the precise date it was taken. Could be it was taken three days after.

The people are waiting three days ahead of time to enter DL for the first time.

Kind of like what's going to happen for Cars Land.

But seriously, Yesterland says the photo was taken on July 15, 1955.

My husband went to DL in 1955; and we were there 50 years later, in 2005.

Of course, it's way fewer cars than the 1960 photo. Maybe it's the plumbers trying to get the bathrooms finished.

I think they did a press and VIP day that day. My grandpa was the editor of the Herald Examiner (south bay/beach cities newspaper that is no longer around), and him, my grandma, my mom and uncle were all there for the event.
