Guys has anyone flown with Aer Lingus (DUB-MCO) recently? If so what was it like?

Thanks

Have used AL alot in recent years and most recently last month. The long haul fleet are all Airbus 330's with a one class economy service. This means that you get one full meal, one snack before landing and soft drinks, tea, coffee etc. You have to pay for all alcoholic drinks and there is also a Sky cafe service where you can buy extra snacks, sweets drinks etc.

All planes have full IFE seat back televisions with a large choice of films,tv,radio and films. I also personally think the A330 is a very quiet and comfortable plane to fly on.

For an extra €275.00 per flight you can choose to sit in the front business cabin. Food and drink offerings are the same but you get a lie flat seat, power points etc. I decided to take one of these on the trip home and got a full 6 hrs sleep.

Overall I think it is an excellent product in either cabin with great staff and I would not hesitate to use them or recommend them. Thats assumming the price was right of course.

Thanks Paddyshack - we have booked them as they had a great deal for us and we could not really say no, wasn't sure about the airway however and you have helped a great deal on this.

Now just the hotel ahhhh!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks irisheyes - I am now officially excited! Only 5 weeks to go, delighted with the feedback. Very much appreciated, now just need to get the hotel booked ahhhhhh....:cool1::cool1:

This is good feedback - i've also looked at this option but also going from birmingham to dublin onwards - i still can't believe that there appears to be no direct flights from birmingham international during the winter months, it amazes me!

We always fly domestic with Aer Lingus and took our first Long Haul flight with them last year.
I have to say the flight back was way better than the flight out.

It was quieter
The staff were lovely
we had seatback tv's
seats were comfy too

There was a 'mix up' with our aircraft for flight out and we ended up with the New York aircraft which had no seatbacks and i felt 1 of the films they showed wasnt really suitable for children.
My seat was also narrower.

I'd go with them again for the convenience!

With Terminal 2 in Dublin opening later this year it is highly likely that you will be able to clear both US imigration and Customs at the new combined facillity in this terminal after arriving from Birmingham. This will then avoid the hassle of this when arriving at MCO where it will just be a case of luggage collection.

Fortunately this is something you don't have to worry about anymore as all the last old plane left the fleet earlier this year. Setback IFE is now guaranteed on all long haul.

Fantastic news! and even better if you can clear US immigration and customs at Dublin. I saw some other flights doing this whilst awaiting my Aer Lingus flight to USA last year and thought maybe it'd apply to us to-but no such luck.

I was considering flying from Shannon next year just for this reason OR chancing it with another carrier to do it, even if it mean't a stopover.

Now I can rest easy-go direct from Dublin and with a good airline!

How cool is that:cool1:
Terrific
Thanks so much for the info:thumbsup2

Now that itself would entice me with the extra flight - DH not keen on flying and wouldn't like to get onto 2 planes but the choice is this or drive to Manchester or London, i would prefer to fly twice then drive then fly :confused3 also depends if some of our dublin family decide to join us when we go which would be good to be on the same flights out.

Thats great news Paddyshack, do you know when this year this will start to happen? Got my hotel booked POR, cannot wait!

When globespan folded we booked with them to come back from our transatlantic, all sounds pretty good!

Terminal 2 is due to open in November of this year. Hopefully all the negotiations between the DAA and Ae Lingus will be complete by then to allow the immigration and CBP clearance to happen immediately. So it is probably to late for you this year but you still have a comfortable direct flight to look forward to.

Hi there!

My in-laws flew from Dublin to Orlando for our wedding last May. First of all, I was so excited when I knew they could fly direct! They had no complaints whatsoever about the flight or landing at MCO etc.

Of course the flight is a little longer to Orlando than it normally is when they come to NY to visit but they seemed to be really pleased with the service and flights.

HTH! :goodvibes

They stayed at POR as well...

Trying to price up, but it's telling me every date is full!?

Hopefully that's an error and I can play around later.

another fan of Aer Lingus here
