I have never been and was wondering if everyone thought it was worth the extra Ticket to go to this? Do you have to dress up? If you do not dress up , will I feel out of place?

My DH and I went in 2006 and loved it. We are in our mid 30's and we did not dress up. We are going back in 2009 and if possible we want to hit the party twice.

You do not have to dress up - but it is fun. In the past we have gone as pirates, tacky tourists, my sister went as Lilo.
I really think it is worth it. The crowds are smaller. The park is decorated for Halloween and it is the only time to see the Halloween parade which is just great! It starts with the headless horseman. Also the characters are all in their costumes. Winnie the Pooh as a honey pot, Minnie as a princess. I love it.

We had a blast! And you don't even have to "go all out" as far as dressing up - although some do - we just wore orange shirts with pumpkin faces on them but I saw alot of people who weren't dressed up at all.

ABSOLUTELY!! It's a blast. We went this past October, and my DH and I did not dress up, but got such a kick out of everyone else's costumes. We only rode HM, and watched the parade, the shows, and went trick or treating. Our biggest complaint was it didn't last long enough. The crowds are smaller, but they are more condensed into smaller areas (Main Street). As the night goes on, the park does empty out. If you want your pic w/ Mickey, go early. By the time we got into line, it was so long, they closed the queue. So we just got more candy, and met the White Rabbit, Alice, and the Mad Hatter. The park looks fantastic, and we brought home enough candy to give away at Halloween, and at work, etc. :woohoo:

Tickets should go on sale in May.

I highly recommend MNSSHP, I went for the first time last year and had so much fun. I went with a friend of mine and we are both in our 30's. Neither of us dressed up, I would say about 50% of the people did.

I am going to disagree with the OPs. We went in 2005 and at that time my boyz were 14, 12, and 9. We took my sister and brother-in-law and twin 5 year old nieces. Friends also went with us with their 3 kids (all similar ages). We were not impressed. It was just like any other night to us, except there were longgg lines to get some candy (they were few and far between). We compared it to MVMCP, though and maybe that is not fair, but we would never make the effort to go again.

We loved it and would/will do it again. We dressed up, but not everyone in our party did. You can go either way. The park wasn't very crowded, rides were very easy to get on. The parade and fireworks are great and it's one of the few ways to actually meet villians! GO GO GO!

Can I tag onto this thread and ask what exactly happens at the party? I mean, how is it different besides costumes and trick-or-treating?

We'll be there this Halloween as well, and we're debating if we want to spend the extra $80 on 2 tickets (DH and I).

DH (35) and I (33) have gone the past 2 years. The first year we went all out in full make-up and costumes and last year was minimal stuff. Both times we had a blast. It's worth the extra cost. Unfortunately, we won't be able to this year since we just moved to a new apartment and there's a possibility of DH losing his job.

There is a parade, fireworks and a few show that are MNSSHP specific. There is a map for the party that shows you what goes on, if you go to events at the top of the page and then go to Sept/Oct you should be able to find it.

The day that I went I did not go to any parks during the day so I just paid for the party ticket and was able to get in at 4pm. There were very few lines and were we able to do almost all the rides, plus see the parades, fireworks and shows.

Well, basically it's an extra 5 hours of riding rides, dressing up, trick or treating, Halloween music and decorations, Villian show, Halloween parade and fireworks, Halloween Dance Parties and just a basically fun, festive atmosphere!

we went in 05 and 06. we are going again this year. we have a blast!! we go down with other dvc friends and the kids dressed up as cops and the adults as jail birds. i would never dress up any other time but like my dw said, you will never see these people again, why not.

We went last year and are going back this year for the 9/16 party. I would highly recommend it to all. We had such a great time, we went all out with costumes and lights on DS stroller. We will be wearing the same costumes this year, they were to cute not to.

My sister and I went last year and had a blast! I have also been to MVMCP and IMHO, MNSSHP wins, hands down! The parade is fantastic and the fireworks are awesome. We dressed up a little and plan to do the same this year, we may actually go twice during our stay!

Ok I am new to these boards and trying to figure out what everyone is saying is a little on the difficult side. What is IMHO. I think MVMCP is Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party as I have done that. Also I think MNSSHP is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that I am asking about. But I am at a lost with the IMHO. Thanks for your help

I'm new to all of this stuff, too! I think it means "In My Honest Opinion."

Is there a dictionary posted anywhere???:confused3

I know we're doing the Halloween party, but I'm not sure what to expect in terms of crowds if we do it ON Halloween. How does it compare to a MVMCP sold out night?

Here's one (apparently my post count is too low to post real links yet):

Of course, when in doubt, you can always use google.
