Hi,

We're taking our December WDW trip with my family and my parents. In total there will be 7 of us: my DH and me, my three kids (2, 5, and 7), and the grandparents (both active and fit 55-60 year olds). We have vacationed all together before, but Disney is a more intense trip, IMO, requiring more planning and causing more stress if not done right. My mom can get VERY bossy and stressed, BUT that's when she's done all the planning, and for this trip, I am the planner (and DH is the financier) so she can't boss much! Any tips from others who have done Disney will all these different ages?

In my planning, I'm making plans based on the kids, with plenty of points where I can recommend other adult activities if anyone wants to deviate. I'll encourage people to split up, but I think the grandparents will want to stay with the kids most of the time (they're just as excited to see the kids' reactions to Disney as we are).

They're both really helpful with the kids and we do enjoy their company. But I don't want everyone to get sick of each other! We are sharing two rooms at POR, an arrangement which has worked well during other vacations. (The kids take turns sleeping in their room, so it's less crowded in ours!) :thumbsup2

All our ADRs are together, but people could split up during the day. Any tips? :goodvibes

This is the exact same position I am in, we are doing an extended family trip in December, ME, DH, DD9, DS6, my sis and bro in law and my mom and dad(also 55-60 year age range). My mom has let the planning up to me because I have the kids and my parents just want them to be happy. Our plan is that the grandparents will stick with us and if sis and BIL want to wander off they can. We also have all our ADRs together, except one day when sis and BIL didn't want to do character breakfast. We too are staying at POR and my mom asked TA to request adjoining rooms for us and them so they could watch the kids if Dh and I go out at night. I think you have a good game plan, after all IMO Disney is all about the kids, yet you have allowed enough flexibility for everyone else. Have a great trip.

Split up - even if it's for a short time - each day. Eeeeaacchh day. Otherwise, you will all go crazy. (I'm a 60-y-o.) Love is great, but patience is often tested due to others' habits, etc. Do yourselves a favor - while you are all still talking to each other. A little alone time makes the together time that much more precious.
