I was wondering if any-one could help.

We are looking to go to Ornaldo next year for 3 week and want to hire a car.

Can any-one tell me what taxes we would have to pay???

if we just got the basic insurance as just by upgrading to the next insurance up the price increases loads :headache:

I was wondering if it would out better to get the basic insurance and then upgrade my own insurance just for those 3 weeks.

Or would it be better to look for a seperate car hire altogether???

Depending how many people in your group to what size car you want it can be just as cheap taking Virgins car and paying what they ask. If you are like us only 3 travelling and want a bigger car we have to pay for upgrades and then insurance so Virgin work out really expensive.

Get a price from them and then price up seperate. USrentacar.co.uk are usually competative but I have found Hertz to be cheapest for me thsi August. More info on Hertz offer here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2401659

You can buy a separate insurance for car hire and take Virgins car but personally I would not do this option see my thoughts here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2399704

Most UK companies like hertz.co.uk usrentacar.co.uk Dollar.co.uk netflights.co.uk to name a few, are fully inclusive prices.

Check your travel insurance policy too. Basic policies may not have hire car insurance but we have a very comprehensive family annual travel insurance policy with American Express that covers all car hire insurances. Saves me £500 on two-week car hire with Virgin!
