Back to the insurance question - Am I right in thinking your insurance is for yourself & eve so Phil's pre existing condition should not matter?? You would be chaging/cancelling due to "illness of a family member". Surely we can not be exptected to detail all our families medical history when booking holidays. What about elderley parents etc etc
Best of luck sorting it all out.
unfortunately insurance companies do expect you to admit to any relative that has pre existing conditions IF you would cancel your holiday due to that relative becoming ill or passing away. I know it seems far fetched but they often refuse to pay out for such matters.
Alison, I agree that you should speak to these companies individually as you may find that they could be sympathetic. Either way I really hope you and Phil find the strength you need at this tough time.
