Oh, this place is awesome!!! I haven't been to Disney since 1988 and we only went when there were no lines, which used to be the week before Christmas. I never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride, even SM. Therefore I have never experienced Disney crowds. We are going the last week of September and I know they say it is one of the slower times to visit, but what can I expect in terms of waiting times for rides? I've read some threads where people are waiting HOURS, and I sure hope that isn't the case in September! TIA!

We love the last week of September. We follow Tour Guide Mike's advice on which park to visit which day. We never wait in a line more than 20 minutes. We make a fairly firm plan of what to do in what order following his advice, and we have never been disappointed. Usually we walk on most rides. Have a great time!

I agree with following TGM advice. I've paid twice for subscriptions and found the suggested touring plans worked like a charm. I didn't sign up this year because I have the touring plans memorized:). We went to non-EMH parks and never waited more than 10 minutes in line for anything, and we hit all the headliners.

HI there! I am also going to be there the last week of September - for the beginning of Food and Wine Fest @ Epcot, during free dining and HOPEFULLY NO HURRICANES.

Fast Pass, Fast Pass, Fast pass.

One thing to do for line management is to figure out before going to a park which are your top rides to ride... then get there early, and head straight to the top of that list. If it's a ride I really love (or you think you'll really love), Fast Pass it first, THEN hop in line. Usually by the time we are done riding, our FP time has come around and we can ride again. OR, if we choose not to, it's also a blast to hand off those FP to folks walking up to the queue.

Generally, HS's Toy Story Mania, Epcot's Soarin' and MK's Peter Pan (why this is, I just don't know) will have the longest lines. When getting to those parks, we BEEELINE straight to those rides for FP. If the standby is short, we ride it too! (The exception is Peter Pan - I love the nostalgia of the ride, I don't need to ride it more than every other trip.)

If you aren't interested in parades, that can be a great time to ride - or Wishes @ MK, or during Fantasmic (especially if there are two shows) at HS.

All said - I really wouldn't worry about it. You will probably encounter one silly line on your adventure (I'm betting TSM @ HS), and if you do, be entertained by the charming things to look at while waiting... play a rousing game of EyeSpy... or, decide that it's not worth it, that you aren't going to stress over it, and that you'll just save that one for another trip! :lmao:

In the last 20 years since your last visit the Disney parks have generally become more crowded to the point that there are only a few weeks during the year that can be classified as slow,an example is how you claim to not have made long waits the week before Christmas, which right now you would have to go to the first week of December to have no lines, the later in the month the busier it'll get.Late September should be OK,nothing too bad,but as others have posted the popular rides will still have waits between 30-90 minutes so learn how to use the Fastpass system and you should be allright.

I am also traveling to Disney tha last week in Sep. I was feeling good about the crowds until I realized (a while after booking) that is the first weekend of the Food and Wine fest.

So I am now excited to be there for the food and Wine fest (have never been before) and have altered my touring to avoid Epcot on the weekends...

I am also excited to be staying at a deluxe resort (have never been in a deluxe before...).

I am not worrying about the crowds as you never can tell what will make the crowds greater one week vs. another. I completely agree with the previous post, every time I go (3-4 times a year) I am surprised at how many people are there. Aren't we in the middle of a recession...shouldn't the kids be in school etc...??

Here is to low crowds...less rain...and happy times!! Above all ENJOY!!!!
