Advice on Vero Beach

We are taking our first DVC trip to Vero Beach. Always a Disney World fan but have decided to try out the Vero Beach resort. Any tips? We have never been to the area either.

This is a really beautifull but really quiet resort. We were quite disapointed in the surrounding area but mabey we just didn't find the really touristy spots. There are a lot of gated properties on the same strech of road and they don't seem to be looking for outside business. I presume that they are other timeshares.
On a plus point my DD loved the pool and the kiddies play area. There are also two good resturants and a nice spa.
I think this is a place to go if you are looking for total relaxation and are not planning to move much over your trip.
I don't think that we will go back but instead just have a couple of resort days at WDW instead.

I totally agree. VB is a beautifully relaxing resort but not much around it. So if you are staying to relax, swim, and play on the beach, then it is perfect.

We stayed in one of the 3 bedroom villa in August, which was located on the end with semi-easy access to the beach by cutting through the trees and taking a small path. We figured we wanted it hot so we could play in the ocean all day. Having lived in California for a while, we did not realize the Atlantic would be 94 degrees. Ouch. Live and learn. The Pacific would hardly get out of the 70s in summer.

We loved staying by the ocean. The first time we went to Vero Beach, we went in October. Every morning we walked long stretches on the beach. Then we relaxed in the pool. We loved the Green Room Bar. We never even went in to the restaurants. The grocery stores are very close, and we did a lot of sandwiches in our Ocean View Inn Room. Just having that ocean outside your patio was so worth it for us. They have lots of activities and bikes and miniature golf and a campfire on certain nights. The time we went, there were also Halloween decorations which was fun. Lots of beautful photo opps too.

Are you saying the water temp in August was 94 degrees? Wow! I was worried to stay on the Atlantic side if the water would be too cold for my girls to swimm as I grew up on the South Shore of Boston and the water neer reached that type of temp!

We loved the nearby treasure museum!
