Advice on use by year - direct purchase

Hi all, we’re visiting Disneyworld in August and are planning to go ahead (after much consideration) with purchasing 150 points direct, with Grand Floridian as our home. we would mostly be staying August, October and Christmas. What would you suggest as our use year? Guide said today that it’s currently February, but not sure what’s best in terms of banking 2022/23 points - if possible.

August would be best... you should get 2022 points, and works good for your banking window if you will typically stay as stated above.

Depending on how early in August I would consider a June UY, it would cover every single part August-Christmas but it wouldn't be eligible to receive the 2022 UY points so with that your best option is August as the other poster above me stated

Would say June or August. If you booked an October or December trip and had to cancel at the last minute you would not be able to bank points into the next year with a Feb UY.

I vote June ans August. Since it will already be August when you buy, it will begin with the 2023 points, which is the same for June.

I vote August, but buy before you head to WDW in August. Have your guide draw up the contract at least 4 days prior to 8/1/23 to take advantage of Magical Beginnings for the 2022 August UY. That's $3,300 when you sell back the 2022 points PLUS you would get your full allotment for the 2023 UY on 8/1/23.

If you don't want to sell your 2022 UY points back, MS will also courtesy bank them past the August deadline (Usually 3/31) with a new direct purchase. Just confirm it with your guide.

I thought one of the benefits of buying direct was they could assign (re-assign) the contract for whatever UY you wanted?

DVD gave themselves the power to change the UY of points but they still need to have enough points in a unit with certain UYs to sell.

That is why they sometimes need a supervisor to get involved since it isn’t as simple as a guide being able to do that.
