Hi,
WE (husband, mother in law, myself, two kids 4 and 5) are thinking about doing our first trip to disneyland in Dec. I would really like to stay close, due to the young kids, and would really like a suite hotel. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance.

Well do you want to be within walking distance or is a shuttle okay is the first order of business ;)

Walking Distance~
Best Western Park place Inn-closest offsite hotel-The rooms are mini-suites which mean 2 Queens and a sofabed seperated by a half wall. The rooms are very spacious though and they have a decent sized frig and microwave and your choice of continental breakfast or strawberry pancakes. We stayed there in April and REALLY enjoyed our stay.

Desert Inn & Suites(not Desert PALM)is about 3 hotels and an IHOP down from Park Place. They have all sorts of different rooms that sleep all the way up to 12 people, www.anaheimdesertinn.com We've stayed there and it's okay. Very very basic with a frig and microwave and continental breakfast.

Carousal Inn & Suites-Two hotels down from Park Place. Same type of floorplan and small frig and microwave with small continental breakfast. We stayed here way back in 98 and I wasn't impressed at all, but other people have stayed there since their refurb and really enjoyed it.

Park Inn International-Next to Carousal, I have not stayed here but I've heard REALLY good things about the room size etc from others at Mouseplanet. www.parkhtls.com

Hojos-A bit more of a walk, but I hear nothing but good things about them! They only have 2 suites so it's harder to get one.

Shuttle Distance~~
Embassy Suites Garden Grove-One of my faves! It's a nice size suite, the sofabed is in the other room with a small frig and microwave, full cooked to order breakfast and a managers reception each evening, the shuttle is a full sized bus and it only takes about 5 minutes.

Best Value Inn & Suites-We stayed there in July and the rooms are very nice sized and there's continental breakfast plus 2 hot itmes and dinner included. The hotel shows it's age but the staff and housekeeping was good. It was okay but at least a 10 minute drive.

There are also:
Portifino Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn, Raffles Inn & sutes, The Anabella and Holdiay Inn & Suites which are all Shuttle distance. I haven't stayed in any of them but I do know that Portifino has good reviews.

If you have AAA I would suggest getting a TourBook and going through it and reading about the hotels and seeing which works for you. The check their websites and call them to get the best rates!

Good Luck!

We stayed at Hawthorn Suites. I noticed that some people walked to the park while others took the shuttle. We chose to drive because I have chronic pain issues and I want to save all my energy for the park.

The suites have two rooms. The bedroom area has two beds, I think Queen. And the living area has a sofa bed, which is where my daughter slept. We were all very happy and would definately stay there again. There's a TV in both rooms. There's also a fridge, coffee maker and microwave in the suite. Also, from our suite, we had a view of Califnornia Adventure which was very nice.

We really liked Hawthorn Suites. Some of the rooms have jetted tubs. We got lucky and ended up with one! Oh my, was that nice! Nothing like coming back after a long day and taking a nice hot bath with those jets! For that reason alone, I'd go back there.

They also offer free breakfast, which consists of scrambled eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, waffles, a variety of fruit, cereal, bagals, donuts, muffins and juice, coffee and other stuff. The breakfast isn't the greatest in the world, but it's not bad. The free breakfasts saved us (a group of four) a lot of money...money better spent on souveniers.

We stayed nine nights for just under $600, which I thought was more than fair.
