We just moved to FL so we're only about 2 hrs from Disney. We're looking to take advantage of resident rates and take in the Pirate/Princess party next weekend. We already had a weeklong grand gathering planned for May, so we don't want to upset others by heading to the P&PP alone (me, DH, and DD) so we're thinking of driving down next weekend. Would it even be worth it to head down on a Friday, check into our room ($99 for CSR!), go to party, then pick a park for the next day and leave at closing to drive home? DH is not interested in P&PP but everything I have read looks like so much fun!

Definitely worth it! We did the Pirates and Princesses Party in August and had a blast. Make sure you dress up. We all did and the kids all got picked to do certain things (DS was picked for the pirate tutorial, DN was picked for jokes at Monsters, Inc., DD was given given a special pin for her lanyard).

Yes - worth it! We all had the best time at the PPP. They have a special parade and fireworks and meet and greets. Low crowd when I went. You don't have to dress up - not everyone did.
