I have never rented points before and would love any advice about how to do it and get a good deal. I would like to stay at Beach Club Villas (2 br) during Oct from a Tues- Monday or else a Wed-Monday. If the point calculator says I would need 250 points to do this at BCV or 208 at OKW. Should I expect to pay about $10/point? So would that mean I should expect to pay about $2500 for BCV? or $2080 for OKW?
Thanks in advance!

Expect to pay what you posted. I did not look up to see if your calculations were correct though.

Renting is easy. We have rented for us and have rented to people here on the DIS. This is a usual scenario...

PM or post you need points. You can negotiate price but do not count on it. Owner will check on availability and let you know if your times are available.

They will make ressie if you choose and send you conf. #. You then send a check, money order to owner. After they received payment in full, they will change ressie to your name and send you written conf by mail.

Can not guarantee this is exactly how it will go but pretty close.

I may get flamed for this, but do not spend more than $10/point. There are plenty of points for rent so be picky about who you rent from.

Is there tax on top of that? Is it possible to rent from a wed-mon or tues-mon or does it have to be starting on a Sunday?

You can rent from any day to any other day that you want. No tax is one of the best things about renting DVC points.

Not intended as a flame, but I think the supply and demand would dictate that $10 per point may soon become an old standard. I have no points to rent, always seem to need some myself, but out of curiosity I read the Rent/Trade board often. Easily spot a vast majority of buyers to sellers... and in very different quantities! Buyers wanting 300, 400 points but sellers often with 30 or 40 unused? I think $10 will soon be a fond memory for renters.
