We arrive on Sunday morning, staying on-site. Where is the quickest place to buy our Florida resident passes? Or should I buy them on-line? Can the paper passes be exchanged for plastic passes and where would I do that?

I haven't bought them online since they changed to plastic so I'm not sure what the system does now. But - when I bought them before, online was really easy. At the park, I went to a machine and put in the credit card I used and out came the tickets I had bought. It was very easy and there was no line at the machine at all.

If they still do that and it comes out paper, then head into the park with those and swap them out for plastic later on. Swap them inside the park, where the lines aren't as long later on in the day. (Guest services inside the park has always has short lines when I've gone. I think I've read of people swapping them at other location inside the parks too but I can't remember where they did that).

Edited to add: I totally missed these were FL passes when I responded. We used the kiosks when we bought AP's from out of state. We recently renewed some passes - going from non-resident to resident and we did have to do it at the counter due to proving residency. We did it at guest services.

For the FL Resident passes I don't think you use a kiosk. I know you can't purchase them at a resort because I tried. You need to be able to prove FL residency so I had to use Guest Services in the park. I went around 10 am and waited in line about 45 minutes. It was the longest line I had the entire! trip!

Just curious... where are you "arriving" from?
We have done ours at Springs, but we are local.

Tampa Bay area. Tried to get them at Cabana Bay and was told FL resident passes could only be purchased at the parks. This was for Universal passes, not Disney.

We're coming from south Florida. We are planning to buy Universal Seasonal passes.

They have to be verified. That's why Universals require that they are done at the ticket booths. All APs are plastic now. Even if you purchase them online, you will still need to go to a ticket booth to get a real pass before you can get into a park.
