We will be arriving in the afternoon in June at the POFR. Any advice on what to do the first night. I don't know if I will be able to get the kids away from the pool, but if I can I would like to make reservations.
One of our favorite first night meals is at Chef Mickey's. It just gets you in the Disney mood. If you don't want characters, 'Ohana's is fun for the kids, too.
Originally posted by BCV23 Boatwrights at PO Riverside would be easy for you to do. We've only had breakfast there which is great but others report enjoying it for dinner.
Boatwright's is an excellent choice for dinner the first night. DW and I will be going there our first night on our upcoming trip. What makes it particularly nice for a first night is that you can catch the boat over to DTD when you are done eating.
Two other excellent choices for a first night are:
1) Eat at any monorail restaurant (Chef Mickey's or Ohana's would work) and then watch Wishes from the beach at the Poly.
2) Eat at any Boardwalk/BC restaurant (Spoodle's/ESPN/Cape May, etc). After eating you can walk around the Boardwalk and see the sights. At 9 PM you'll be able to see parts of Illuminations. Beaches and Cream is also there and makes for an excellent dessert. If you have kids, they would love the Kitchen Sink!
I believe Bob Jackson performs on the piano in the River Roost Lounge around 8:00. He sings a lot of Disney songs and kids were singing the melodies. Entertaining for all ages. i think he's there 4-5 days a week.
