Hello, we are planning a 9 day trip to Disney in September and are currently booked at POR(2 ad and 3 children-ages-5/7/8). We are thinking about doing 1 day at Universal Studios. Are our children too young for that park? What is the best way to get there? I checked into car rental- with tax it would be clsoe dto $100 for one day. The shuttle system at Disney charges per person and would be about the same. Have any of you done this and what would be the least expensive way???
Thanks so much!

Hi there,
Is this your first trip to WDW? If it is, I would definately stick to it and not do Universal Studios, there is simply so much to do at WDW. I would save the money and spend some extra time in the water parks and doing things like mini golf at disney which are great fun...

The only thing I really liked about it and Islands of adventure were the big rides and they would be wasted on your children as they are still quite young.

Alternatively if you want to do some time out of disney.. I would recommend sea world which has wonderful shows that you and your kids will love...

Well that's my opinion, but don't just listen to me...

Doing Universal Studios for 1 day out of a 9 day trip is a great idea. There are lots of things for your kids to do there. There is Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, Men in Black, ET, the entire playland (which is huge with a small coaster and lots of water!!!) as well as a few shows. If your kids are on the brave side, they will also enjoy Twister, Earthquake and Jaws. You could purchase the passes that are buy one get one kid free for $110. These would allow you five days of access and you could do Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

The cheapest way for would probably be to just take a van cab. It is about $30-$35 each way from the resorts.

C'mon over to the Universal boards section of the disboards and ask questions. They are very helpful over there.

What I would actually recommend is shortening your Disney stay to 7 days and stay 2 nights at the Universal Resorts. Doing that gives you unlimited express line access for 3 full days. Being immersed on property is a wonderful ,relaxing experience.

I would actually suggest trying to do Universal over 2 days. Rather than renting a car, I would try to stay at RPR (the least expensive of the Universal Resorts) for one night. This would allow you front of the line for all of the Universal attractions and quick access to the parks.

Ditto on staying at the Universal Resorts to get front of line access. The only concern would be if the original poster is using Magical Express - couldn't use it back to the airport.
