Im new to the DVC secton of the DIS and although we are not owners, I am interested in possibly renting some points for our upcoming trip with friends in December. We are taking our 2nd annual trip with 2 other families December 5 - December 8 and I was thinking about staying at one of the DVC resorts. There are 3 families that will be attending (all 2 adults and 3 children- children under 10yoa) Last year we stayed at POP but after visiting this section I am thinking we may be able to rent some points and stay at one of the BWV , BCV , or WLV for either the same amount or a little more than last year. What do you think? I was thinking 3x suites would do ( 1 for each family). Please help me decide. any suggestions - good and bad - will help :confused3

It will be nearly impossible to get a single villa during that time now, let alone three. You would need at least a one bedroom for each with five in each party. You can't have five in a studio unless one is under the age of three.

BCV and VWL are both small and are difficult to get during many times of the year. BWV is larger, but still difficult to get.

I'd recommend an alternate location this year and try again in the future, but do it 11 months out.

thanks for the help like i said i just found the DVC part of this board my family usually goes about 4 times each year (mothers day weekend/sept/oct/dec) which of these times do I have the best shot at getting 1 studio for my family? Ill start working on it for next years trip then! we are going up in sept 21-24 and in oct 12-15 of this year is it too late for these times also .. like I said im new to this DVC thing thanks for all your help :)

You should check into becoming a member, you sound like a great candidate with so many trips.

You are probably too late for October because the Food & Wine Fest books DVC up fast. You might have a chance at September - not usually a real busy DVC time.

One thought - you mentioned that you wanted to get a DVC room at lees than you have been paying for POP. That's fairly unlikely unless a member has gotten into some kind of "distress" situation financially. While DVC can save money over Deluxe accomodations and even moderates, it rarely is a savings over a Value reservation. Check the "DVC Point Charts" at the top of the page. Find the points needed for the nights you are interested, and then multiply by $10 - $11 per point. That's the probable cost of the reservation from a member.

I agree.

Unfortunately, you're looking to rent points over a weekend, and Friday and Saturday nights are approximately double the points needed for Sunday thru Thursday nights.
