I need some oppinions please.

I just bought into BLT but havent sent the paperwork back yet. I think we
will love it there and will do a yearly trip with the kids. We have barely
enough points to do that with borrowing and skipping a year eventually.

The problem is I am thinking now how great it would be to have enough
points for may husband and I to do a 3 or 4 nt stay every other year.
Not enough points for that.

The dilemma is whether to call back and add on to this original purchase at
BLT or add on thru resale a smaller contract. My husband and I would not
stay at BLT (probably) because of the number of points required there for
a studio. We don't really have another favorite resort. I have Oct UY and
they seem a little rare on the resales. We only need around 30 pts and
when you figure in closing costs and the current incentives I just can't
decide what the smartest move is.

IMHO other than location and access to the monorail, BLT isn't a kid friendly resort or would most be attracted to the design. I would think that most kids would want to stay at BCV where they have SAB or VWL, better theming and a boat ride away from the MK.

Maybe you should consider a different, less expensive resort via resale, That way you can buy the extra points that allow you and your husband to stay in a one bedroom for your dates.

I do not think that it is easy to find 30 point resales and if you limit yourself to a particular use year, it is even harder.

Because BLT has the lowest maintenance fee, I would call my guide and add an additional 30 points to the purchase. Maybe you can have 2 parts to the contract, your original and the ".1" which would be this add on. I would think you want it to be in this original because I THINK you do get a discount as the number of points that you are buying go up.

yeah, since you'd have to pay closing fees on a resale, i'd think this would make sense.

I would ask them to add a seperate contract for the additional 30 @ BLT and ask them to write it up so that you get the discounted price as if it were all just one single, larger contract. Based on math I've done in the past, BLT is the cheapest DVC per point over the cost of the purchase, even when compared aginst inexpensive up-front resales because BLT's dues are lower. Even as they go up you are starting with a lower base so average 4% increases will still always be less than the others. Not that it is guaranteed to be that way, but nothing in life is.

You could start with 3 nights in a BLT SV studio and then then try to switch to 4 nights at another resort @ 7 months since you aren't particular where you stay for the adult trip. During most times of the year SSR is available from what I hear, at least if you try to book as close to 7 months as possible.

Good luck with you decision and welcome home!

thanks all

I think I will just call my guide and see about options to add more at BLT

If you haven't signed yet, you can add. We did. We had originally decided on a 160 point contract, got the paperwork, and once DH saw the numbers again, decided he'd be happier if we could go down to HHI a few weekends a year, and that we would be happier with a 200 point contract. At 200 points, the price per point goes down. We called our guide, told him we wanted to change the contract, and they sent us a new one. We just got the new papers today!:cool1:
