Possible 4-night, three-day WDW trip. Out of the blue today DW and I were talking and we started daydreaming about our next possible WDW trip -NEXT WEEK. (I love being a spur of the moment kind of guy :teeth: ) Anyhow, we are not exactly the Rockefellers, and this would be our third trip in 15 months. We are looking to save a buck or two for our family of four by not adding the PH option to our 3-day tix. For us this would mean one day in either MGM or Epcot, and two days in MK. We can save $150 by not having the hopper option. Estimated cost of trip w/o hopper option is $1050 (+ food).

We have always hopped before. Do you think we'll find ourselves longing for another park at midday? Am I being TOO thrifty? We are park vets and can always find something to do and know how to use FP to the max, and know most of the shortcuts from land to land.

Question: Would you add the hopper option or not?

I would try it without the PH option since you were there twice not long ago. You can always add it while you are there if you change your mind.

Goodness! You need to get annual passes next time and you would save even more on your trips I bet!

Discount on hotel rooms, able to buy into the DDE if you eat out often, even discounts at some restaurants without buying DDE.

For this trip, I would go without hopping and just plan something else for that evening if you decide you dont want to stay all day. I think you might be surprised at how much of a day you can fill at MGM if you are interested in staying all day. We have done it a time or two, simply to get in all the shows, etc.

Have fun!

Ahhhhh yes... APs. How often I have tossed and turned wondering whether we should buy APs. I guess I am just too non-commital :goodvibes .

We usually eat counter service or carry in snacks for food, so dining discounts don't mean much. I think we'll do this trip w/o even a character meal. The funny thing is, DW and I (and the kids too) are such Disney goobers -we'll probbaly be going again within a year. I just acan't believe I'm gonna squeeze this trip in for just over $1000 bux (IF it does indeed come to pass). How we have managed to make 5 WDW trips on one income and not borrow a cent mystifies me.

Thanks for confirming what I was thinking.

Be careful, the parks will have some early closings the week of May 1 because of the 50th ann. Not sure whether "next week" fell into that time frame.

Also, with the new tickets, you can add the hopper option after you buy them if you change your mind.

Actually I am hoping to get out of town before the press events start. Planning to leave WDW 5/3 (last park day 5/2). Too bad I'll probably miss Soarin'

It's going to be busier than usual next week--I think the hoppers are worth it as additional insurance. If it's busy, being stuck without a hopper is too restricting!
