:scratchinWe are flying down the first of Sept. for a week at WDW....currently I have a minivan rental through Enterprise for 378.00 (there are a total of 7of us)....We have always rented at MCO and drove over to the resort.....this is my question....I have never used Magic Express to take us to the resort...would it be cheaper or faster to take ME to WDW and get a car at the rental complex at WDW...or keep it like I have it?

Would it be cheaper or more expensive to do it this way (ME & car center)?

Then I could leave the car at the WDW center and take ME to MCO at the end of our vacation.

Just an idea....give me the adice!!!!:confused3

Can you really fit 7 people with luggage in a mini-van?

I'm worried about fitting 5 adults in one?

I'd say just keep checking and look at it from all angles. One year it was cheaper for us to pick up and drop off on property. Other times it's been cheaper to pick up at MCO and drop off at WDW. You don't have to pick up and drop off at the same location and the numbers change almost daily! Also factor in the convenience of where you're staying. We like BCV so we go to Dolphin for our rental. The DTD hotels have more companies to choose from, but if you're looking to use the CCC or Dolphin I think they only deal National or Alamo.

Keep checking the rates, you still have a few months. Mousesavers have rental car discounts on their page. I think most rental companies only need a CC to reserve but won't put a hold on it.

I like DME because of how far I have to fly, so it's nice not to have to drive to the resort. And then just use Disney transportation while I am there.

But since you always rent, I would say, DME might be easier to do that with 7 people? And you can rent at the resort. Then again I guess it depends on your time and your luggage situation.

You have to do the legwork for your specific reservation. Look at the rental companies you're thinking of, look at each way of doing it. There is never just ONE way they have of charging. Sometimes they need cars at Car Care Center, so it's cheaper to drop there. Sometimes it's different. You have to do the research; there's no way we can tell you what way will be cheaper. All we can do is tell you to check for your specific trip.

I think that a minivan with 7 people and luggage is going to be miserable, so I'd put a monetary value on not having to deal with luggage... Assuming you have a flight that lands before 10pm...... You could have one person take the minivan from MCO while everyone else rides the bus, or even have no one take the bus, but THAT is a subject that has its very own sticky thread here.

Going back, you can use the RAC luggage service even if you're not taking DME. It's not even controversial, so it doesn't have its own thread. :) It's totally allowed. So I would send the luggage on its way in the morning, then when it's time to go to the airport pile the people in the van and head back to the airport. (we weren't the hugest fans of DME in either direction, but that RAC service, wow was it awesome!)

But that's IF IF IF it works out to be that much less expensive doing MCO as the starting and/or dropping point.

Gotta work it out for your specific trip. :)
