Ok... we are 4 adults and 3 kids (3,7,9) and we will hae our car. The grandparents have decided to pay difference for an upgrade from OKW. What are the recommendations from all you friends?

WL 2 bedroom or Animal Kingdom (savannah vs. standard view)?

I hear the price difference MIGHT not be worth it for Savannah view? Grandparents seem interested in the view, so maybe it is worth it....I am sure the kids would love it. For the price it seems we might as well choose AKV over WLV.

I am leaning towards Kidani due to the pool, although we are thinking dining plan. Any thoughts?

confused............

I love both of those resorts. When we stay at AKV we do value or standard units, not savanna. We just do not spend that much time in our villas...and no, not all savanna views are created equal so we save our points in favor of more trips vs view. There are a lot of public viewing areas around the resort and we are content with that. VWL is very warm & inviting...has the water taxi to MK which is nice... AKV has zero entry pools...and the splash play area at Kidani. Oh, and Boma...and Sanaa...and Jiko. Hummm...:confused3 Either choice would be fine!! We do not do the dining plan as it's uneconomical for our DS to be charged as an adult so I'm no help with that. You will love either choice!

I own at AKV and personally I would not stay there unless I had savanna view. As for location of room to see animals, that is not the issue with Kidani but instead whether you want to see giraffes or not -- sunset savanna has them (which most savanna rooms overlook), Pembe does not (which one side of the upper northern wing rooms overlook). The second issue is distance to room from lobby. If room is close to lobby, you will have a sunset savanna room and be close to restaurant, busses, store, pool. If room is at end of one the two wings well ... I assure that the walk from the lobby to the room will be the longest walk you have ever taken in a hotel. You may have heard people complaining about the "long" walk to end rooms at Boardwalk. Well that "long"walk at Boardwalk takes 1 1/2 minutes normal pace. The walk at Kidani takes 5 minutes. It is more than a quarter mile from the lobby to the end rooms on the north wing and almost that to the end rooms on the south wing.

Parking, however, is ideal regardless of where you are because you park under the building and can always park close to an elevator that will be fairly close to your room. Nevertheless, if you choose there I do recommend that you request "close to the lobby.""

Given that your grand parents will be there and that fact that it's why we bought in, I'd go for the savanna view.

For your trip, I would go with Savannah view AKV!:thumbsup2

I enjoy both resorts, but just keep in mind that AKL is out of the way from the parks, if you're ok with the extra commuting time then it shouldn't make a difference. I like the convenience of WL when I'm at the parks every day and the relaxing atmosphere of AKL when I'm spending more time hanging around the resort.

:lmao: It's like all of an extra 5 minutes to certain parks!! And it's not like the boss is gonna fire you for being late! :rotfl2: I just love it when people say things like that! It really does tickle me! What is 5 mintues?! :confused3 I still really like both resorts and the "commute" is fine. It does not compare to sitting on the beltway for 2 hours.....

I have recently stayed at and loved both of them. If I was you however, I would stay at Kidani. The theming is superb. The animals are very interesting and if the grandparents get tired of parks, it will give them something to do. The much derided bus ride to the Magic Kingdom was no big deal (at least to me). Things are new and you get an extra bathroom. You can park right under your unit and use your car if you wish. Both good, but Kidani better to me.

Regarding DDP, we never do it. We eat offsite (better food and cheaper than Disney) and pre cook several meals for the condo. If you have a food saver the process is simple. As you are cooking a normal meal, cook enough for a meal at Disney. Freeze it in a food saver bag (most things will last well beyond 6 months) and then take it with you. No extra prep, only the time it takes to put it in the bag, vacuum seal it, and then put it in the cooler. As long as you start thinking about it before you go and integrate it into a normal meal, you will have almost no time into it.
