Hi,
We are going to Disney for 8 days in October but want to do things outside Disney as well (not too far away though)

We have never been so I'm not sure about things, kids will be 8.5 and almost 7. They love animals and getting their picture taken with animals.

We were thinking 2 days in magic kingdom, 2 days in Animal KIngdom, 1 day at Seaworld, 1 day at Discoovery Cove.

Any other suggestions for me, whats too good to miss?

Thanks so much,

Yasmin

We love Midevil Times. If you are not familiar with it, do a search for the site. It is a dinnershow with knights and horses. The food is fantastic (chicken falls off the bone) and you have to eat with your hands. You cheer for your assigned knight. This owuld allow you to do something during the day and have a fun experience at night too.

Sea World is great! Lots of animal interaction there. A few tears ago we went to Silver Springs. It is near Ocala I think and didn't take very long to get to from Orlando area. It was very cool. They had a tour in glass bottom boats and there were alligators and turtles all around to see. They filmed a movie there in like the seventies or something so there were a community of monkeys still present living in the swampy areas. There were other narice animals on land to see as well and even a giraffe you could feed. If it us still there it was a fun place to visit. Just bring along bug spray if going in the summer. I remember that tv Mosquitos were really aweful! There is also gatorland and Bush Gardens which is sort of far. Discovery Cove would be awesome for the kids though! Only ones I can think if of off the top if my head.

Wow you already are doing a lot, I don't think I could keep up with you. If I were you I would plan a down day to recoup from the parks and just hang out at the pool. My boys always love a day at the pool, and need the day to rest their legs, thats usually the day we do a character breakfast. HAve a wonderful time, we love visiting in October.

I know you mentioned animals so definitely Sea World, but if your kids are into airplanes/space at all, also try Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center. Soooo cool. While not right in Orlando it is close enough to be a day trip. Even if your kids are not into reading all the little bits and pieces of info about each and every piece of memorabilia there are lots of rockets to look at, pieces of moon rock and a bus tour you can take that goes down near the launch pad and that lets you see the vehicle that they use to move the shuttles (It's HUGE). There is a sticky with tips on viewing the launches if you are going to be there when one of the shuttles is going to lift off.

If you have never done Disney before, I would say you ought to try one day in each of the four parks. Once you get to WDW you may not want to leave. Personally, I think 2 days is too long in animal kingdom. I think 1 day is plenty of time there. Seaworld is a good choice if you really want to do something else. I've never been to Discovery Cove, but I have heard it is terrific.

we are still in the very early stages of planning, trying to get as much information as possible! :)
