We have a trip booked for Aug 2013 for myself, DH and youngest DD. However our oldest DD who is pregnant (Baby's due 6/5) has asked if she can come with us. It's not a problem changing the booking. I just don't have any idea how to go about booking a flight before the baby is born. Do I just book it for the 4 of us and then amend after the baby is born? Thought that I'd just about covered everything in the years that we've been going there, but this is a new one on me! :confused3 So any help would be really appreciated! :goodvibes

Hiya,

I've done this twice ;) just let them know she's expecting then we had just to call when baby here and give name, d.o.b etc. Its really straightforward. I think we paid £60 for ds but he got full luggage allowance too :cool1:

We got lovely wee congrats note from TA when ds came along :thumbsup2

It might depend if your booking a package holiday or a flight only directly with an airline.

We booked our flights with Virgin several weeks before my daughter was born in 2010 and were advised that they an not add an infant to the booking without a name and DOB. They advised us that they would make a note on our booking and then for us to call when baby was born. We are expecting No2 anyday now (I hope!) and Will boom flights for next year when they are born.

Best bet would be to call airline or speak to travel agent directly as things are usually different for each airline and change from time to time.

I booked with UA, I phoned them and they advised to call back when our wee one arrived and they would add him on then.

He was 2 days old and I was calling to add him on - all done in 5 minutes. I think it cost approx £80 and he got a case allowance also.

I booked with VA then called to add on after baby was born. No problems at all.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice! :goodvibes

we did the same thing as booked it the day before we found out. I got told it would be 10% of the flight to add on when he was born but they charged us £96 and the flight was only £530. This was with virgin then just added a cot to our room.

It's 10% of the full adult fare but then the baby has to pay the full amount of relevant taxes too. (Only some, they don't pay APD) A bit misleading for them to say 10% really.
