OK the decisions have been made to go ahead 200 pts. at VWL now the problem I face is this.
I want to vacation on Nov. 26 - Dec.2 of 07'. Do I pay a premium to Disney and go through them for about $2,000 more and still be told I am on waitlist and be shut out. OR
Admit defeat go through TTS wait for a nicer contract save about 2K and know there is no shot at ressie? Is there any other way around this? Would it work if a member made the ressie for me then when I became a member transfer points to them for my trip?
Crazy?
Thanks for a little help guys.

Instant gratification is great!! Would you want to go the resale route and possibly get the door shut on ROFR and have to start all over again? Or go direct and bingo, your in! And then you can make your reservation, with resale, I think your looking at like 2 months to be in the system. Just a thought! Knowing what I know now, and if I wanted to make a trip, I would pay the premium to get it done quickly! Then if things got held up and you stil wanted to go to WDW, you would be spending the savings on a trip. So it would be a wash?

Congrats...on your decision...
If you go in the system today.....they will put you on the waitlist...
Which might or might not get you in the WLV....
The most popular resort at that time...

It is worth a call to disney....they might not even have any
WL points to sell you....
Just book the ressie cash....with the couple of grand you will
save going through TSS...
This way there is absolutely no stress...
Good luck

I was able to get a ressie @ VWL last year 12/1 to 12/6 at the 7 month window.....

If you get a UY that hasn't happened yet (anything from April onward) you will get last year's points as well as this year's points. So unless you can get a good deal on a loaded resale contract you will probably come out ahead.

I wouldn't count on getting a ressie at VWL (people have already posted being on the waitlist), but you should be able to book something at DVC for your December trip.

When you buy from Disney, they have been letting you bank those points right away. So you'll have 400 to work with for your first year. A waitlist that's lasted more than 8 months may very well come through.

Our first attempt to enter DVC was ROFR'd, it was for VWL...we've been luckier since then, but most of our points have been bought direct from Disney.

When I spoke to a guide yesterday that little tidbit was withheld. Any other gems of info that will save $$$$$$$$ out there?:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Thanks

Well, those "extra" points would only be if the UY hasn't begun yet. What you would be getting are the '06 points. We have March UY, so we would be starting with '07 points if we were buying an add on right now.

Who is giving away the "double points"? What type of purchase?

If you buy VWL direct from Disney now. They may or may not have 200 VWL points in any particular use year to sell you. Let's say they have 200 February UY, you buy those, you get 200 '07 points, and you pay prorated dues based from now to the end of the year. That little bit of dues money is your savings. Let's also say that they have 200 June UY. IF you wanted June UY, you would buy the contract, and be getting 200 June '06 points. At this point, in March, you are only in the 25% banking time. But Disney has been allowing people who purchase from them to ignore the banking deadline, and they will probably let you bank all 200 '06 points even though it is late in the use year. Once again, you would only be paying prorated dues for this year. You would never have paid dues on the 200 points that were from '06...those dues were paid in '06.

Being allowed to bank is not a "given." Once we bought an add on, it came through in January, we have a March UY and they did NOT let us bank those points. However, recently they have allowed.

These points are not "extra" developer's points or anything like that. They are simply the current UY for the contract. Sometimes when you buy resale, you'll read "200 points available June '07." Those owners have already spent their 2006 points.

When I spoke to a guide yesterday he made no mention/ ommitted any of this information. Which may have not sent me to a reseller. :cool2:
