Monday, May 7 we have ADRs at Epcot for Les Chefs de France and are planning on staying for Illuminations. There are EMH at DHS that night so we are going to hop over there afterward. Would you exit the main entraince and take the bus to DHS or go out the IG and take a boat?

IG and boat. Walking is an option too, but at that point in the day your feet will probably prefer the boat.

I would go out thru IG and do the boats. That's a long walk from WS back up to the monorail...and can you even get a bus from Epcot to DHS? I didn't think they ran park-to-park...?

From what I've been told.... we are staying at Beach Club and someone told me it's about a 5-10 minute walk to Int'l gateway in one direction, and a nice 15 minute stroll in the other direction to DHS.... so... sounds to me like you could possibly even walk it (unless you have a tired crabby munchkin on your hands!)

How long do you think it will take to get there? I think we will try and leave Illuminations as it is ending to get a head start

If by tired crabby munchkin you mean by lovely boyfriend, then yes I will have one on my hands :rotfl2:

The buses do not run from park to park, you have to go from park to resort to park, so the boat would be much quicker, not to mention a nicer ride. However I would watch Illuminations from somewhere close to the boats, so you can get on quickly.

If you catch a boat perfectly, about 20 minutes.

Sorry, not correct. Buses do run between parks. In the case of MK, the park-to-park buses transfer at the TTC.

Anyone know how long Illuminations runs? Trying to time this out as perfectly as I can to maximize time. Thanks in advance for all the help!

There is a bus from the front of Epcot to DHS.If you plan to hop over to DHS after Illuminations I would try to see Illuminations from Canada or the UK and head over to the boats quickly to avoid a long line,if you're up for it you can also walk,it should take 20-30 minutes.

And yes there is also bus transportation between the other parks, the only exception is MK to Epcot that has the monorail. Also bus transportation to/from MK to DHS and AK is at the TTC.

Thanks, guys! We will definitely plan on watching from the WS and take the boat over to DHS. In a perfect world we would make it there in time for the later showing of Fantasmic that night, but I am not holding my breath!

I would go international gateway and boat. It's a nice ride and only takes about 15 mins. Plus it'll be loads easier and quicker than going by the front of the Park. And you'll get to see the boardwalk area too which is pretty cool, especially at night.

I'd do a combo. I found the boat from IG to the Epcot resorts to be very slow. I'd just walk, and if a boat was heading towards a dock I was near, hop on. It stops at the BW, BC, SW/DF, and then heads over to DHS. It's really only a 5 minute walk over to the resorts, while the boat zig-zags between them.

I think we will plan on taking the boat, but walking if there is a long wait. Okay next question is, when I walk out of the IG, where do I head to get the boat? Would walking be heading in the same direction? Does Robo have a map for this? :worship:

Head out the IG, and the boats will be on your left. Revising my previous statement, the boat takes closer to 25 minutes rather than 20. Walking takes about the same, depending on your pace, but I still vote for boat owing to tired feet. And Robo does have a map that includes all the boat stops and the various walking paths through this area.

Yes Robo does have a really nice map for this.
When you head out the IG, the boat loading dock is immediately on your left, you can't miss it.
Remember, even if YOU time it perfectly, you can't control how long the boat will stay at the dock boarding the folks leaving Epcot after Illuminations. It will likely be several minutes before you head to DHS. And you really do need to plan that the boat will take at least 30 minutes. It stops first at the Boardwalk, the Yacht/Beach Club resorts and the Swan/Dolphin. YOu have to account for unloading time at each stop as well.
Good Luck
