Advice: Loud Room on upcoming Dream Cruise

I stayed under a club once. My kids had no problem with the noise they slept threw it. I on the other hand did. I am a very light sleeper. what i did was left the tv on until 2am, this helped alot. My advise is to bring ear plugs just in case. Try your thread meet for switching rooms with someone who might stay up until 2am. Good luck!

I just got off the phone with Disney cruise line, and there are still no other rooms available. The cast member put me through to his supervisor (on his suggestion, not mine), and he was extremely sympathetic. He explained basically that, as Kevin suggested, there are a number of "inconveniences" associated with various state rooms on any cruise ship, but admitted that there is an expectation when booking that a room should be up to certain standards, one of which is the ability to sleep at a reasonable hour.

The supervisor also told me that they do read third party Disney sites, especially those dealing directly with Disney cruises. The entire category, that being 8D, is currently under re-evaluation based on the many sound complaints already received by past guests (he was very forthcoming).

Unfortunately, nothing at the current time could be done for me now, as there are no rooms available, but the supervisor did take my information and assured me that he would contact me personally if other provisions are possible. In the mean time, he suggested to keep checking availability on their web site.

Paul, do you have an iPhone?

Having just read the discussion on Apple and eBooks followed by this question, I literally laughed out loud. I know there was no humor intended, but I am guessing the answer is a resounding NO, given the quote from that discussion...

Sounds typical of Apple, which is why I refuse to buy any of their products.

Back to the topic, I can completely sympathize with the situation with three small children. I would not be pleased either.

We will be staying in 5188 in August, so I'm curious to know if it truly is that noisy. Please post when you return! Although, I told my DD that maybe we would feel the vibration of the bass in our room, and she yelled, "YES!" :lmao:
We both sleep pretty well, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Good news. Being a nighthawk is a good thing. Rooms were available as of 11:30pm, and got 7140. I checked the decks above and below, and it didn't look like I'm above cannons, night clubs, or much else that will keep us awake.

It was over $500 more, which I know is a lot (especially with me losing my job on Monday), but knowing that I'll be able to sleep soundly makes it all worth it.

That's great news. Persistence pays off. :worship:

Glad you were able to get a different room! The cost means nothing as long as there is a value to you. Hope you have an excellent time and we look forward to hearing about it when the time comes. ;)

Thanks for the mention of this thread on the podcast.

While I totally agree about the wait and see attitude when it comes to reviews of rooms, restaurants etc., my main issue is putting a "family" set of rooms directly above a dance club. To me, that just seems like bad planning.

Thanks for the great advice and well wishes.

Great news !!! Congrats.

I'm very happy to hear you were able to switch rooms. I know that I couldn't deal with the thumping & room vibrations.
Have a great time on your cruise!

I'm so glad that worked out for you. I know from personal experience that ear plugs don't always help with the thud thud thudding of bass noise - I "feel" that as much as I hear it. I am an ear plug user - they're terrific for most noises - I'm so happy you don't have to worry about this any more!!

Ear plugs wouldn't be an option for me, as I have very bad ears. Not for hearing, but for balance. If I wear ear plugs I'd be very dizzy.

One less worry is a good thing, especially since I'm now looking for a job. :(
