Help! This is our first trip to Disney and I've made all the decision about tickets, resorts, ect. except the time to go. We are very limited (husband is school teacher). We are staying on site for 7 days with 3 children (8, 11,13). We have only 2 time periods to go - 3rd week in June or 2nd week in August. Is there really much difference between the two regarding the weather and crowds?

Thanks for your help, I've gotten a lot of good information from all of you!!!

HI. Not sure about the heat, but from what I understand the crowds start to thin out around the middle of August due to most schools in the southern states going back then. I think it may be a little hotter in Aug, but then again summer is summer down there! :sunny:

Hope this helps :goodvibes

Also, don't forget - August is hurricane season. We were there for Hurricane Charley last year. We've been going to WDW every year since 1986 - either June or August, and that was the first hurricane we ran into. Heat is about the same - but August is wetter. Hope that helps.

August is a little hotter with a little more rain than June. After our hurricane season last year I am not planning any Florida vacations in Aug. or Sept. this year. Although we usually go in Aug. we are going in June.

Either time is going to be wet, hot and crowded. With that said, plan well and take advantage of Fastpass, and you'll love it.

We go in June and July each trip and it's ok. Hot, but we're well prepared. I vote for the June time slot but you better hurry hurry to get a room, especially if you have your heart set on a certain resort. summer is premium season at WDW.
once you hit your 90 day to go mark, begin to call in your priority seatings for meals each day. If this is your first trip and with kids ages, I'd suggest reserving one late lunch and one early dinner on alternating days. That way, you know which park to be in and you will not have to guess on a main meal. The late lunch will hold your family and the early dinner will give you a chance to try some neat eateries without battling the prime dinner hour crowd. Some places our kids liked at that age were : Hoop De Doo, Sci Fi, Crystal Palace, Mama Melrose, Biergarten, and Canada.
For menus get on allearsnet.com and click on the park, then the type of meal you want.
Don't wait to make your PS when you arrive. You will not have a very good chance of getting in anywhere.
Have a wonder ful time. And plan to go back many times--you cannot get it all in one trip. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

UMMMM :guilty: ...don't forget that JUNE is also hurricane season. It hasn't happend for a while but it can happen. June is nothing but heat and rain. I would assume it's the same in August. If I were you I would probably go in June. If you can get out early in the morning, eat during the mid-day rain(TRUST ME...It's gonna rain ;) ), then make it back out for the evening festivities, you should be OK :goodvibes . Hurricane season really kicks into high gear in August and lets up in October. HAVE FUN!!!

We used to be a 2nd week of august family, but now have switched to spring break week, which happens to be in april the past 2 years. We have also gone once in June. I would rather go in June for sure. I had it with the rain in august. Last time, there was even a tornado warning. Our sneakers were so wet we had to walk around the parks with our water shoes in aug. I was tired of the ds always having to run out of the pool due to a storm etc. If its only june or aug, go for june. See when the value resort dates are for your resort etc.
