We are getting ready to FINALLY take our postponed 2020 trip this June, and I'm trying to figure life out before we hit the 60 day mark and can make dining reservations.
In our original trip plans we had factored in a one day rest day where we would skip the parks and hang out at the resort and swim and relax, and pop over from the Poly to Wilderness Lodge to do Story Book Dining at Artist's Point. At the time of our original trip, our oldest really wanted to go to Universal for Harry Potter, but we didn't think that our youngest and middle child were old enough to get our money's worth out of those parks. Fast Forward 2 years, and our youngest is now three books deep into Harry Potter, and our middle child is obsessed with Marvel. Knowing full well that we can't experience all of Universal in one day, we are still considering scrapping our rest day for a one day trip to Uni.
If we do Uni we will have a park day on every day of our trip. We like to do two days at MK, we know DHS will take a full day, and maybe plus some (we have Park Hoppers). Since we won't have a rest day anymore, I am trying to figure out if I can turn our AK day into a "slow day," where we get to experience most or all of AK and still get over to Artist's Point. We usually take a mid-day break everyday, but I'm thinking we may have to just forge through AK and then end early and head to dinner if we can get a reservation, but I don't know if that would qualify as a "slow day." Our kids are 13y, 11y (special needs and doesn't like big coasters like Everest, and unsure about FOP), and 7y (loves every ride, ever, in the whole wide world). If we don't use AK as our slow day, any other thoughts on what would work to get Artist's Point in, and get a slower more relaxed kind of day?
Side note: I know that with modified meet & greets there haven't been many character meets at AK. Can anyone remind me who had meet & greets at AK pre-covid? When traditional meet & greets start returning, I'm trying to guess who could be meeting there to factor that into the plan. Thanks!
