I kind of feel i'm ready to pop the question to my question to my girlfriend. I would love to do it at WDW... preferably at the Magic kingdom. Anyone here has done this or been the receipient? We are going in March, but pbbly would wait until another visit (august or December). What's a good location? Does the WDW staff give advice in anyway? How do I keep from having her find the ring? Not sure if we'll just drive down or fly... We can do either with ease from were we live. Any help would be great. Thanks a lot!

There are sooo many options!!! I think right after the fireworks ("wishes") is one of the best times, the fireworks always get me so emotional, you could take her by the castle and pop the question there.. and then you'd have all night to celebrate your engagement!!

You could always have dinner IN the castle while the fireworks are going on, that is also super romantic (book reservations early for this if you think you'd want to do it - they fill up quickly!). The restaurant is called "Cinderella's Royal Table" - It is a character meal (usualy princesses or the fairy godmother are attending).. if you call disney you MIGHT be able to get the characters in on the proposal!! OOo you could buy a glass slipper at the crystal shop in the Magic Kingdom and put the ring in the slipper and maybe have the fairy godmother present it to her or something..

One more suggestion, if you have a video camera and know when you will be proposing, see if you can get a cast member to discreetly record the event. That would be a real treasure as well!!

Soooo many options!! Goodluck and let us know what happens!! :teeth:

Jason proposed to me at Cinderella's Royal Table and it was amazing. It's a great story to be able to have and it was so romantic - everyone was very impressed by it. I just asked him how he coordinated all this - he contacted Disney Dining to book the reservation. Dining gave him a contact at the Castle to coordinate the event when we arrived. You get the best seat in the house - center window, overlooking the carousel. Once you check in to the restaurant he had to meet with the manager to give them the ring and to agree on a time to bring it out. He did all of that when I thought he went to the bathroom - so it doesn't take an unreseasonable amount of time. They brought the ring out after our main course when I thought the dessert should be arriving. They had it on a plate in a glass slipper with flower petals all around. During all this they have a Disney PhotoPass cast member taking pictures (I had no idea this was going on) and then they take photos afterward. We should have given them our camera rather than doing only PhotoPass because now we have to go and pay $12.95 for each 5x7 - I like to say That's how they get you! It was all very perfect and went off without a hitch. I sort of thought something was going on only because it was our 5 year anniversary, but nothing else gave it away so it was still a total surprise. It was really neat too to have others around - at the time you don't really notice other people in the room, but after I said yes there was applause and a lot of "Aws". One woman was crying and had to come over to congratulate us and look at the ring.

Oh - and I wanted to add that he kept the ring in his luggage. We each had our own so I never felt the need to rifle around through his. The only weird part was that we were there for a week and I unpacked my luggage - he didn't. I thought that was strange and really had no idea why he wouldnt want to unpack, but he got away with it because he is a little weird and does things his own way. If you wanted to unpack I would just tuck it away in small compartment and keep the suitcase locked - don't make a big deal about and she probably won't even notice. Good luck!!

Awww.. that's so sweet!!

My fiance asked while we were walking on the Rose Garden paths between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland...he knows that I'm pretty shy, so the path was great because it was mostly empty at the time (it's sort of "the long way around")...he kept the ring in his pocket while we were in the park, but he later told me how nervous he was carrying it around. We were already planning on going to dinner at the California Grill, so we were pretty dressed up to be walking around the Magic Kingdom! But my concern over my hair and dress kept that ring off Splash Mountain, so he was very grateful for my being momentarily vain! :rotfl: It really was a wonderful day, and after a few minutes alone, people...okay, women...around us all realized what had happened and offered to take pictures and such...it was great!

The other really great place is by the Wishing Well near the castle...very pretty, day or night...good luck!

First off congratulations on making this big step. there are a lot of options for proposing to your girlfriend in WDW and you can find a lot of information on this board.
here is a recent thread fro someone looking for ideas...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=959362

I got engaged in WDW a year and a half ago and it was magical.. Really any proposal in WDW is great no matter what.

First decide if she is the type of girl that would want the proposal in front of a lot of people or a more intimate proposal. If she wouldn't mind you professing your love to her in front of people...I say do it during Wishes on Main Street at the MK. It is an amazing show and would be perfect.

However, if she likes a more intimate event maybe ask her in the MK in a more secluded area. There are several on the side of the castle. My fiance asked me on the beach at the Polynesian looking out over towards the castle and the wedding pavilion. I do not like being looked at or in the spotlight so he asked me with just the 2 of us around.

Good Luck.

My fiance proposed during Wishes as well. We were on a bridge to the right of the castle (near TomorrowLand) and he had me make a wish (I wished that he would propose, obviously!) and throw a penny in the water just as the music started and when I turned around, he was down on one knee just as the first fireworks were going off and he made my wish come true! This was a great spot because we had enough people around us to clap, but not so many that we felt crowded. Personally, I don't remember the people around us clapping, but my fiance promises they did, I was too distracted by him!

He kept the ring in his carry-on luggage on the way there and then left it in his camera case. I never knew it was there!

Hi!

I was proposed to in Disney on Sept. 30, 2005. My fiance told me that his original plan was under Cinderellas Castle. Since I was the Disney buff and he had only been there once before (with me ;0) ), he thought that would be the "dream" place. But as our trip came closer and we started making dining plans, etc. he realized that my favorite place at Disney was France in Epcot World Showcase. This is because Disney and PAris are my two favorite places in the whole world. So he opted for this local. I would give you more detail, but I do not want to sway your ideas with my story.
My advice is, just because she may love Disney, she may not mean Cinderella is her perfect vision of romance. I would feel her out . . .what does she love to do best at Disney, maybe Fantasmic is her fav firework display, or maybe her favorite princess is Mulan and China would work, . . . you get the idea!!
Either way a Disney proposal can't be beat.

***My best tip is:

Write a letter to your hotel and fax it before you go. They will probably try to give you a better room/ special surprise/ and help you plan (like sending the ring to a specific local!!). Just write a nice letter explaining your plans and asking if there is any way they could help you make this the most magical trip of your lives. Trust me . . it works!!!!!

Hey-
You're such a romantic! If you wanted another option outside of Disney, look into Discovery Cove. That's where I was proposed to- a dolphin brough the proposal on a buoy! It was wonderful... and all captured on film and video camera. There is actually a department there that plans the special events. For him, he knew he couldn't propose at Disnye becuase that's what I was expecting... he was just coming home for deployment to the Persian Gulf... we were going to Disney...and I'm not stupid ;). He did blindfold me until we got there though. The website there is: http://www.discoverycove.com/vi_dcpackages_special.aspx

The buoy with the actual written proposal.. I am so thankful they caught this moment on film!

After he proposed with the ring on the beach... they actually arrange for a very good hand-off to give you the ring so you can get down on bended knee (if you choose). They won't allow the rings in the water because dolphins like shiney objects... not where I wold take a newly purchased ring!

Check this website out for a few other Disney proposals: http://www.yourfairytale.com/proposal.html. I am almost positive there is a special occasions coordinator at Disney that could help, too.

One of Brye's ideas was to do it at Cinderella's Royal Table at breakfast time. He was going to have Prince Charming bring the ring out on a covered tray and present it. I *think* he might have been in contact with someone there about it. I will have to check when he calls at lunch...

A just got engaged on 11/15 at WDW. My fiance proposed to me at Cinderella's Royal Table and it was SO romantic. I suspected that he would propose while we were at Disney, but I never pictured it to be as beautiful as it was. I have pictures of the whole thing and I got to keep the glass slipper that my ring was in. The slipper was engraved with our names, the date, and 'Will you marry me?'

I asked him how he thought of it and he said he called Disney and they gave him a few suggestions.

One thing I liked about Disney being involved was that they got everything on camera. They had a photographer right their to catch every tear I shed. During your typical engagement, it is just the two of you and nobody is there to take pictures of you.

Also, my fiance decided to go with Cinderella's Royal Table because he knew I would like the attention. Random people at the restaurant were taking pictures and we even got a standing ovation.

Not even 20 minutes after he proposed the fireworks went off. Those were the best fireworks I've ever seen!

You guys are all making me cry!!! Such sweet guys out there. I have a friend who is a huge MK fireworks fan but not too big on being the center of attention. Her guy opted for renting the Wishes boat/cruise and proposed out in the Seven Seas Lagoon. It was very sweet. They then had ressies at California Grill for a late dinner. Good luck with all your plans!! Sending some Pixie Dust your way..... :wizard:

I love all these new proposal stories! Congratulations all you ladies! I think you can't go wrong with a Disney proposal...i might be biased though :rolleyes1

good luck with whatever you decide

As someone mentioned above...almost any place is a great place to get engaged at disney IMHO!!! The thing is a s mentioned you should try to figure out what type of person she is. My fiancee knew I loved the royal table and wishes but he also knew I would hate to be proposed to in front of a lot of people....but that is just me. i perfered the intimate route he chose but each girl is different. Our story goes like this.....

August 6, 2005...How it all began. We had just arrived at Walt Disney World for our summer vacation and had decided to have dinner at a wonderful seafood restaurant (Narcoossee's) on the water at Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel. After dinner Dan had recommended that we take a walk on the beautiful white sand beach to the Polynesian Hotel. The Polynesian Hotel is Disney's tropics themed resort which has white sand beaches, palm trees, a great view of the castle and it's nightly fireworks show. When we arrived Dan seemed very particicular about the spot we viewed the fireworks from. He said he just wanted an intimate spot so we could start the vacation off right. So we found a lovely and quiet spot under palm trees and Dan brought over two lounge chairs for us. Five minutes before the show began he went over to the water to take a look (so I thought). He came back with a bottle in hand and I thought 'what is that?' he said he found a message in a bottle and wanted to read it. He got down on his knee and proceeded to read the letter which began 'to my princess..'. It was so beautiful that I could not control my emotions and began to cry. He then said he had one simple question to ask...'would you marry me?'. I could not control myself and began crying hysterically.... of course I said yes. Just then the fireworks over the castle lit up the sky and it could not have been more perfect. We returned to our room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and there were roses, scattered petals in the shape of a heart, champagne and gifts awaited, as if the proposal on the beach were not perfect enough! That was the beginning of a beautiful vacation and hopefully many more to come!

where he popped the question...right by sunset pointe

My advice is to keep in mind that things might not always go as planned.

My fiance proposed to my this past June in WDW. He had always told me that he would propuse to me in WDW so as soom as we started planning our trip I had a feeling that I would be coming back engaged. He kept the ring in his pocket all day, worrying about if it would fall out when he dug in his pocket for change (luckily it didn't).

He had the whole thing planned out. Our favorite ride is the Tower of Terror so he wanted to propose in front of the ride, and have one of the photographers in that area take our picture so that I would be able to remember it forever. Everytime we went on the ride the photographer was no where to be seen. Finall y at like 10 at night it just started POURING rain and as we were heading for the gates he was really disappointed. He grabbed my hand and we took off running towards the Tower of Terror then right in the middle of the street he knelt down in a puddle (with lots of people around us) and asked me to marry him. Wasn't exactly what he planned but I don't think I would have wanted it any other way. :earsgirl:

Good Luck with your proposal and engagement, I can't wait to hear what you decide to do.

Underthemistletoe, that is a wonderful way to get engaged! I definitely would not have been expecting it there either! Dolphins are by far my favourite animal (I've only swam with them once) and I think that is a very unique idea your fiance had! How many people can say that a dolphin helped their fiance propose! Lol

Jax - I wouldnt have changed that proposal either. The fact that he tried to make it magical shows a lot. It poured on us the second he got down on one knee. I love telling the story b/c it makes it unique.

OK, so I know I gave tips, but after reading the other proposals I became teary eyed and now I have to share mine.

9/30/05
This was the first day of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. We had been planning all along to spend the day around The World Showcase, enjoying all the new country exhibits. We were having the time of our lives, eating, shoping, drinking. I had made a reservation at The Chefs de France (my favorite restaurant) for 8:30 so we could catch Illuminations through the beautiful big windows. Little did I know, I had booked my own proposal dinner. When we got there the waiters and the restaurant managers were being so nice. I asked him for a window seat and he brought us to a corner table so we had the windows on both side of us. Since my father is French, I started going on to my DF about how "nice'" the French were, etc. . .little did I know. We were having an amazing dinner, with a bottle of champagne and our appetizers, Illuminations started to go off. I looked at Mark and told him this was the best night ever . . .but it wasn't over yet. When it came time for dessert, Mark ordered for me, which I found odd, because he would never normally do that. As I was sitting at the table I notice three waiters approching our table, one with two glasses of champagne, one with creme brule, and one with a huge plate. When they reached our table (at this point I started to cry, because I had had one champagne probably too many and the whole restaurant was looking at us). The waiter placed the large glass plate in front of me. The plate was lined with fruits on the outer rim and in the middle was a huge golden pumkin made by the pastry chef from the carmelized sugar. I lifted the pumpkin off the plate and there was Cinderellas glass slipper and inside the RING!! I picked up the slipper and read the side it said . . .WILL YOU BE MY PRINCESS?? I couldn't believe it and then all of a sudden I looked to my side and there was Mark on one knee, with his hand in mine, asking me to marry him. Well, YES was an understatment!!!
It was the best day of my life. I was on cloud nine!!!! (to the point where I forgot my pocketbook in the restaurant and the waiter had to run after us =0) )

As soon as I figure out how to put pictures up on this board I will.

So . . .good luck with your Princess!!
